Putsch
From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A putsch is when someone (or a group of people) try to overthrow an established government. They want to take power themselves. Putsch is a word of German origin. In German, the word has exactly that meaning.
Strangely enough, the people taking part in the overthrow will usually not talk of a putsch, this term will be given by other people not involed in the process. A putsch always involves force; winning an election and then being granted the power to choose new people for the government is not a putsch.
