Tanjung Malim

Tanjung Malim is a small town in southern Perak on the border with the state of Selangor, Malaysia. It is some 70 km north of Kuala Lumpur. This small town can be reached by using the North-South expressway and going through Ulu Bernam in Selangor.
It used to be a common stop over town for the old trunk road users (interstate Route 1) heading for Ipoh, Penang or Alor Star from Kuala Lumpur before the North-South Expressway was completed. It is also famous for its Tanjung Malim pau (a type of Chinese bun). Tanjung Malim is also located quite near the Bernam River.
The Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) is located here. The Politeknik Tanjung Malim is located 15km away from Tanjung Malim. The Politechnic was established in 2005 In 2003, Tanjung Malim become famous again due to the Proton City project located there.
