Tirana International Airport Nënë Tereza (Mother Teresa) (IATA: TIA, ICAO: LATI) is Albania's only international airport. It is commonly known as Rinas International Airport, as it is located 25 km (16 mi) Northwest of Tirana, in the village of Rinas (Albanian: Rinasi).
Air traffic equipments of Rinas Airport are currently been modernized due to investments by Tirana International Airport SHPK.
On 23 April 2005, a 20 year concession period under private management by a consortium lead by Hochtief AirPort commenced. As part of this concession, the construction of a completely new passenger terminal and various infrastructure improvements, including construction of a new access road, are under way and scheduled to open in 2007. With these improvements, the airport will be able to meet Albania's travel demands in the coming years.
