Torphins

Torphins is a village located in Royal Deeside, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, about 20 miles west of Aberdeen. It is on the A980 road, about 6 miles north-west of Banchory, and was once served by the Great North of Scotland Railway.

With a population of 2000 it is one of the larger villages in Deeside, but it is not as big as Aboyne or Ballater.

The village has many facilities including a small primary school, large park with play area, two tennis courts, a bowling green, a curling rink, a hospital, a doctors and a variety of shops including a butcher, a baker, a hairdressers, a furniture maker and a Co-operative grocer. There is also a Church of Scotland church, which is part of of the Mid Deeside United Churches with Kincardine O'Neill and Lumphanan. Torphins also has a hotel, the Learney Arms, and its own Town Hall.

There is a 9 hole golf course situated a mile or so out of Torphins.

The new 202 Stagecoach Bluebird bus provides service to Aberdeen and the rest of Aberdeenshire, and connects with the more frequent 201 bus. There are other infrequent connections on the 210, 413, and the Royal Mail PB74 postbus.
