[edit] Need to expand this article
This is a significant part of the world, with a rich history. It is surprising that it is so brief. The southern edge has Afghanistan. Needless to say, in this era, being well-informed about history is essential. This is a classic candidate of an article needing expansion. Dogru144 16:10 30 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Disputed territory?
A user has posted this as a Category: How is this a disputed category? Is it disputed conceptually? Or does the dispute lie in parties contesting over controlling it? Dogru144 05:19, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] West Turkestan - Russian?
West Turkestan isn't an entity of the Russian Federation. --Eddylyons 16:56, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
It's a historical name - it used to be a province of the Russian Empire. Sikandarji 07:02, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Turkic Genocide
Turkestan has been the origin and the mainland of turkic people for centuries, it dates back to 5000 BC.
One of the first known empires are Huns, gokturk, Babur, etc..
Russians and Chinese have invaded this land and did genocide on these lands
Since then Turkistan as its name suggests the land of turks, how can it belong to russians or chinese?
Chinese and Russian administrations have tried to assimilate and do even genocide
please read the times on Mao of China, turkistan is under invasion and world is watching it.. NOT. Turkestan is in need of independence and unification. Otherwise the entire region will end up being divided by civil war. The last thing the Turkestanic regions need right now is civil war.

- wrong!! The Turkish people were not the original people who lived in "Chinese Turkestan".
- wrong!! The Turkish people were not the original people who lived in "Chinese Turkestan".
They were the "outsiders" the "invaders" who eliminated the "native" residents of "Chinese Turkestan".
By killing all other races and small tribes that originally lived there from the start of civilization, they declared "Chinese Turkestan" "their homeland". hmm...interesting...--Jerrychen0067 06:43, 2 April 2007 (UTC) Stick to the article please, everyone. [edit] History is not anachronistic
User:Dbachmann asserted that Before Common Era history is anachronistic; then he removed a substantive section of the article.
All of history is important, not only history of the last two thousand years. Dogru144 12:43, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Conceptual problems
The very opening sentence has conceptual problems. Turkistan is or was not in Central Asia. There are different definitions of Central Asia and different definitions of Turkestan. But, Turkestan is in Central Asia is illogical. Historically, Turkestan was roughly equal to or larger than what is today generally accepted as Central Asia.cs 18:42, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
