The Ugandan cricket team is a national cricket team representing Uganda. It is administered by the Uganda Cricket Association, based in the capital Kampala. Originally part of the East Africa team, and after that the East and Central Africa team, Uganda was elected as an associate member of the International Cricket Council in its own right in 1998.
The team fared well in its ICC Trophy debut in 2001, finishing on top of its Division Two group with an unbeaten record from five matches. They lost their knockout match against United Arab Emirates however, ending their tournament and also their chances of a place in the 2003 World Cup.
In 2004, Uganda played for the first time in the ICC Intercontinental Cup, the premier first-class competition between ICC Associate Members. They defeated Namibia comfortably in their first match, but missed out on the semi-finals after a suffering a heavy defeat against Kenya.
In the 2005 competition, they failed to register a win in either of their matches, and subsequently lost the right to participate in the restructured 2006 competition.
