[edit] Merging
On my last edit, I said I merged this article with the info on the Netlink article (which doesn't even exist), but it's obvisouly the Uplink article. My bad. – Mackeriv 19:34, 28 Jun 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Inclusion of {{stardock}} template
Uplink: Hacker Elite is published and supported by Stardock in North America - well, they sell worldwide, but I would guess the majority of sales are in that region. Being a part of the TotalGaming.net service, it is in the {{Stardock}} template:
Stardock line of products | |
---|---|
Object Desktop Products | DesktopX | IconPackager | ObjectBar | SkinStudio | WindowBlinds | WindowFX |
TotalGaming.net Games (developed, published) | BreakQuest | Chrome SpecForce | Corporate Machine | Disciples II | Earth 2150 | Flatspace | Galactic Civilizations | GalCiv II: Dread Lords - Dark Avatar | Gish | Jets'n'Guns | Knights and Merchants | O.R.B | Pizza Frenzy | Political Machine | Reaktor | Society | Trash | Uplink | WordWars | Xeno Assault II |
WinCustomize & Other | DirectSkin | Stardock Central | TweakVista | StyleVista | ThinkDesk (Multiplicity) | DeskScapes | BootSkin | Desktop Pet | ObjectDock |
The question is, should this template be on this page, considering the product was not developed by Stardock? My view is that if it's in the template, the template should be on the page, but I can see the point of view that it might not be considered relevant enough. Any thoughts? - The Stardoc template is a bit too vague to work out what they did for Uplink, which is as small as distro it in America. I say that it should not be included as such; they already have a link as the american distro'er in the infobox, I don't see why it neeeds to be redundantly included as a huge template on the main page. - The inclusion of this template looks like an advertisement to me. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 85.0.17.87 (talk) 18:09, 20 January 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Update
I added another screenshot, I tried to add more but they're all 'corrupted or extension wrong' apparently. Page is generally prettier. Links better, some info. VJ Emsi 18:33, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Hack!
(Shocked gasp)! The page about a hacking game has been hacked! Look here and snigger at the silly person. --Kizor 04:32, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

... and it's gone. OK, fine... VJ Emsi 00:32, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
... I was totally wrong. Sorry... VJ Emsi 00:32, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Music
Tracked down most of the music online and posted them. I love the songs myself, I have all of them. :-) VJ Emsi 18:47, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
I tried to download the music just now. Several of the links were nearly unusable because they linked to reviews, whose actual download links were broken. Searching for the filenames on the Mod Archive did get me to the files, but not only are they in the old s3m format, my first few attempts to convert them to a format such as ogg, wav, or mp3 all failed! Has anyone got converted versions of them? --Kris Schnee 23:14, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Patch
The article mentions a 1.31a patch. Where is it? The latest one I see on the uplink site is 1.31 from way back in 2002. --Phoenix Hacker 01:07, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
- The patch was announced in a topic in the news forum. Patch Testing for more info. NeoThermic 18:00, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] WTF
Why has most of the stuff been deleted? This is an old version of the article... VJ Emsi 08:35, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Steam
The Game is now distrubuted over Steam!
- The statement that it has been released over Steam is under the 'Hacker Elite' royalties section. The Steam version is in fact not the 'Hacker Elite' version, while all other releases listed in that section are. Instead of creating an entirely new section, I'm moving the info to the introduction - AlKing464 11:59, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
People are still adding Steam info to the Hacker Elite section. If there is relevant info on the competition between the legitimate and 'Hacker Elite' versions then add it, or if you would like to create a section on its various distributions then do so, but otherwise Steam is not relevant in that section. I've added a warning to that effect on the page. (<!-- like so -->)- AlKing464 08:12, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Game Tap
Isn't it worth posting that Uplink is also avalable on Turner Broadcastings Game Tap service
[edit] Controversy
I tagged the sentence in the 'Style' section relating to controversy for a source. I've been following the game since it's first demo and never encountered any controversies. If someone can provide sources to back up a claim of controversy then fine. But if they can't, I will remove the sentence in one week from now. The Kinslayer 15:06, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Nakatomi?
Perhaps it's worth mentioning the introduction of the LAN systems in a patch? - AlKing464 06:34, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
