Volkswagen Taro
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Volkswagen Taro was the product of a badge engineering venture between Toyota and Volkswagen.
Beginning in 1989, the Toyota-engineered Hi-Lux truck was built and sold under the name "Volkswagen Taro" in Europe.
The 2-wheel drive version was built at the Volkswagen factory in Hanover, Germany, while the 4-wheel drive versions were built at a Toyota factory in Japan.
This joint venture ended in 1996 due to low sales.
