At right is an infobox which can be used for articles on games that have been released or will be released for single or multiple platforms.
For console games, the fields, engine, media, input and requirements should generally be omitted. For games with a version developed for the computer, it is preferable that you fill in fields for input, engine, and requirements. Please, under no circumstances list a computer game as a "PC" game: list the applicable operating systems instead.
Although no one is required to follow this WikiProject, consensus is that this infobox should be used, and that the image shown should be game box art. With the exception of the box art image, avoid using fair use images in the infobox.
For release dates, use superscript abbreviations such as:
Other country codes are listed here.

[edit] Infobox code
WikiProject VG |
|
|
Copy and paste the following code into an article and simply fill out the fields.
- Note: All fields must be present—regardless if they are used or not—for the template to function properly. All fields are optional, however.
{{Infobox CVG |title= |image= |caption= |developer= |publisher= |distributor= |designer= |series= |engine= |version= |released= *<small><sup>'''[[Japan|JPN]]'''</sup></small> Release Date 1 <br /> *<small><sup>'''[[North America|NA]]'''</sup></small> Release Date 2 <br /> |genre= |modes= |ratings= |platforms= |media= |requirements= |input= }}
Add these fields for arcade games:
|cabinet= |width= |arcade system= |cpu= |sound= |display=
[edit] Image tags
- {{game-cover}} — Game box art.
- {{game-icon}} — Computer game icons.
- {{game-logo}} — Game logo.
- {{game-screenshot}} — Game screenshots.
[edit] Project banner
{{Cvgproj}}
Other lines that can be added:
{{vgproj |class= Stub |importance= |selected= no |peer-review= no |GCOTW= no |workshop= no |old-peer-review= |screenshot= yes |cover= yes }}
|class=Stub ((possiblities are Stub, Start, B, GA, A, or FA))
|importance=No ((possiblities are NA, No, Low, Medium, High, or Top))
|peer-review=yes ((if the article is undergoing a CVG Peer Review))
|old-peer-review=yes ((if the article has an archived CVG Peer Review))
A B-class article of no importance to being included in the Wikipedia CD 1.0 project and that has an archived peer review would then look like this:
Cvgproj|class=B|importance=No|old-peer-review=yes

Our daughter projects have also created the {{Doom-stub}}, {{ElderScrolls-stub}}, {{MortalKombat-stub}}, {{poke-stub}} (Pokémon), {{FinalFantasy-stub}}, {{Warcraft-stub}} and {{Zelda-stub}} templates. These will also put articles into the corresponding stub categories.
