Wonka Bar
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In Roald Dahl's children's book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and its film adaptations, a Wonka Bar is a brand of chocolate made by Willy Wonka, and is the perfect candy bar. The wrappers of the 1971 version are orange with a top hat over the "W" in Wonka. In the 2005 version, the wrappers feature different shades of a color (depending on the type of candy bar) and are also more detailed. Nutritional values are shown on the back side and a Golden Ticket contest notice is visible.
In the 2005 version, four Wonka Bar flavors are shown:
- Whipple-Scrumptious Fudgemallow Delight (brown wrapper) (available in shops, promoting the film)
- Nutty Crunch Surprise (red wrapper) (available in shops, promoting the film)
- Chilly Chocolate Creme (blue wrapper)
- Triple Dazzle Caramel (orange wrapper) (available in shops, promoting the film)
In the book, Grandpa Joe mentions that Mr. Wonka invented over two hundred new kinds of candy bars. He is also the person who Charlie Bucket chooses to take to the factory after finding a Golden Ticket, with them both winning the grand prize at the end of the tour.
In real life, Wonka Bars are chocolate candy bars inspired by the films Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, made by Nestlé, and sold under their Willy Wonka Candy Company brand. Wonka Bars sold in the United States are quite similar to Nestlé Crunch candy bars, except that graham cracker chunks are used instead of crisped rice.
To promote the 2005 film adaptation, some real Wonka Bars had a Golden Ticket, as in the novel and films. A Golden Ticket entitled winners to cash prizes or Nestlé factory tours, depending on the country.
