Ye Olde Colonial Episode is the fifth episode of the first season of the PBS Kids GO! television program, FETCH! with Ruff Ruffman. The episode premiered on June 5, 2006.
[edit] Synopsis
After losing electricity in his doghouse, Ruff forced the kids to give up their electronics for a day in 1627 on Plimoth Plantation. The FETCH!ers were exceptionally disappointed, and reluctant as they left them behind forever for Ruff to sell.
The first challenge was to find the son of Mistress Winslow at the plantation, Resolved White. 50 points were awarded to the boys' team for finding him first. He led the kids to his master.
Next, Mistress Winslow commanded them to grind corn into flour. The girls earned 50 points as well, and 50 more in the next challenge involving watering a garden with a primitive device. As a punishment for not fulfilling the chores better than the girls' team, the boys were sentenced to sleep in a cold, empty dungeon later in the night. The girls were commanded to cook for the prisoners, making turkey pottage. They discovered that in 1627, Thanksgiving was not a celebration for a good harvest; it was merely a religious observation.
The morning after, the girls were forced to collect cow poop for fuel and fertilizer. For their efforts, they earned an additional 50 points, and Julia earned a bonus 5 points for dunking her hands in the e-coli-infected manure. The boys were to milk a goat, but failed as they traumatized it. As a punishment, they earned only 25 points.
The final challenge was to saw a log and transport it to a wood oven. The boys won by a landslide, and earned 50 points. Anna won a bonus 10 points for acknowledging her team's loss in the relay.
