ESIB - The National Unions of Students in Europe ist der Dachverband der europäischen Studierendenschaften mit 46 Mitgliedern aus 35 Ländern und vertritt über diese mehr als 12 Millionen Studentinnen und Studenten auf europäischer Ebene. Das Hauptziel von ESIB ist die Wahrung der sozialen, bildungstechnischen und kulturellen Interessen der Studentinnen und Studenten und deren Vertretung gegenüber internationalen/gesamteuropäischen Organen und Institutionen wie dem Europarat, der Europäischen Union oder UNESCO.

Neben der Interessenvertretung bietet ESIB eine Informations- und Vernetzungsplattform für seine Mitglieder und organisiert regelmäßig Seminare und Workshops als Training für StudierendenvertreterInnen.

Die Abkürzung "ESIB" geht auf die Gründungsgeschichte der Organisation zurück, die in den Achtzigerjahren zuerst als "Western European Student Information Bureau" (WESIB) und nach dem Zusammenbruch der Sowjetunion als "European Student Information Bureau" (ESIB) fungierte. Mit der Zunahme der bildungspolitischen Bedeutung der europäischen Ebene beschlossen die Mitgliedsorganisationen jedoch 1993, ESIB nicht nur als Informationsplattform sondern als Dachorganisation zu nutzen. Das gut bekannte Kürzel ESIB wurde beibehalten, doch mit dem Zusatz "The national unions of students" versehen.
