The King George community is participating in changes, from the River Landing|Station West development, a part of the South Downtown or River Landing Project, to sidewalk, roadway, and park upgrades. [1] [2]

King George is one of the first settled areas of the City of Saskatoon, the majority of homes were built prior to World War II, and the area came to maturity by the 1960's.
A buffalo kill site was found in the King George area documenting the history of the area back thousands of years. [5]

In 1911 the Prince of Wales school was moved to the acreage set aside for a school. On June 22, 1911 George V of the United Kingdom was coronated, and this school was now named King George School. *Caswell School a public elementary school was constructed 1910 and again named for Robert W. Caswell who had farmed at this location.[6] A 14 room school building was built to supplement the above one room school house in 1912.[7]
The frame school was re-located again, this time to Pleasant Hill area. In Septembe of 1914, its new name was now Pleasant Hill School.[8]
King George School Public Elementary School named for His Majesty The King (1910-1936) George V [9] This gothic collegiate style school was built by Scottish architect David Webster. He constructed 7 of such castle schools in Saskatoon of which King George was one.[10] The supervision of the project was undertaken by Robert Blackwood [11] [12]

- Riversdale Pool is an outdoor pool facility complete with water slide.

- Gordie Howe was born in Floral, however, the family moved to Saskatoon. Gordie Howe attended King George School for his primary education. [14]

King George is serviced by the City Transit Bus Route Saskatoon Transit.

The northern boundary extends no further than 17th Street, and the southern edge is limited at 11th Street. Avenue P South through to the South Saskatchewan River are the western and eastern boundaries respectively. The roads are laid out in a grid fashion, the streets are numbered numerically increasing incrementally with northward travel. The avenues are labelled alphabetically with the alphabet Avenue A starting in the Central Business District and incrementing westward through the alphabet.

Convenience stores are located near Riversdale Pool along Avenue H South.

King George Community Association besides providing sports and recreational activities for all ages, also works closely with agencies such as QUINT and CHEP.[15] [16]
King George has easy access to bicycle and walking trails along the South Saskatchewan River a part of the Meewasin Valley Authority park upgrades.
