Some Great Reward è il quarto disco dei Depeche Mode. L'album denota una sonorità della band che per la prima volta inizia ad essere cupa. Il tono dei testi è in quest'album meno materialista che nel precedente Construction Time Again, e ne è la prova il singolo "People are People", che denuncia i pregiudizi e il razzismo. Some Great Reward è in definitiva un album sicuramente più romantico e introspettivo rispetto a tre precedenti pubblicati dalla band.

- Tutte le canzoni sono state scritte da Martin Lee Gore, eccetto "If You Want" e "In Your Memory" (tracce bonus della ristampa 2006), scritte da Alan Wilder.
- E' il primo album dove Martin Lee Gore canta due canzoni ("It Doesn't Matter" and "Somebody"), mentre negli album precedenti aveva sempre cantato solo una canzone.
- Il titolo dell'album deriva dalla strofa di una canzone, "Lie to me": "Make me think that at the end of the day, some great reward will be coming my way."
- Il 2 Ottobre 2006 è uscita la ristampa dell'album, completamente rimasterizzato per l'occasione. La nuova versione oltre alle tracce originali e ad alcune tracce bonus contiene anche un documentario, "Depeche Mode 84", dove vengono svelati alcuni particolari interessanti sulla realizzazione dell'album e sugli stessi membri della band. L'album nella ristampa 2006 è disponibile in una versione SACD/CD e DVD, ma da inizio Marzo 2007 anche in una versione in vinile.
