The Smashing Pumpkins were an influental rock band of the early 1990s. They formed in Chicago, Illinois in 1988 and disbanded on December 2, 2000. The members were: Billy Corgan (vocals, guitars and writes almost all of the band's songs), James Iha (guitars), D'Arcy (bass) and Jimmy Chamberlin (drums).
They were mainstreamed for hit singles like "Today", "Disarm", "1979", "Butterfly With Bullet Wings" and "Zero".
On June 21st, 2005, when Corgan released his only solo album The Future Embrace, he wanted to get the group back together. However, the statement has not been approved as of October 2005. Chamberlin announced that he had not heard an official word from D'Arcy since her departure of the band in 1999.
