[edit] Big Brother?

I've just removed a couple of sentences from the end of the biography that claimed Arthas led an assault on the Big Brother House and killed several people who lived there (naming people who'd participated in the reality show specifically). Someone who has time and feels comfortable in expertise on Arthas may want to expand the biography regarding the things Arthas really did do...--Almagesh 08:06, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Speculation on WC3 Human Campaign Storyline

Arthas was essentially forced to kill his own people in order to halt the plague. This was becaused other methods to halt the plague could not succeed while his father was reluctant to impose the quarantine suggested by the Kirin Tor. In hindsight, this would have changed the flow of the entire campaign if the quarantine was enforce.

Regardless, Uther's reluctance to take aggressive measures to cut the cancer from the city (I'm referring to the infected peasants here) slowed Arthas' efforts. This might be seen as forgiveable due to Uther's concientous objection to Arthas' "the end justifies the means" policy. However, when in Northrend, Arthas is taking on the undead in their own territory and has taken Mal'Ganis by suprise. Then Uther comes in and screws everything up: by interferring on moral grounds, it was Uther who made the fall of Lorderan a certainty, as opposed to simply being highly probable.

If anyone wants to paraphrase that analysis, your welcome to, I don't think I could raise that point in a NPOV way. --202.173.194.130 08:06, 14 October 2005 (UTC)

I like they way you put that, well said man. But this is where truth comes in to place. The downfall is all on arthus man. I was put up for a simular disscussion on a star wars page. It said that mace windu was responsible for the fall of the jedi, very simular to this discussion.(look up discussion on mace windu to see it in full detial). Like i said before you guyz make some good points and all but you really just need to blame the people that had somthing to do with the downfall 1st hand. Still not convinced? ok let me give you an example, sure it was uther's fault for his actions on the sitiuation right... but wait a minute thats not good enough.. so lets go ahead an say it was the prophet's fault in the first place for not being abel to convince arthus to go to Kalimdor. But wait, that just still dosent cut it, so lets go ahead and blame arthus father for having the little bastard in the first place right. o ok matter of fact it is uthers fault. Because if he had died in the second warcraft, he would not be alvie to ever resist in prufying the lands.Opp wait a sec! The ones that are really at fault are the orcs, because if they had been victous in taking out the humans for the burnning legion this never would of happend. I know i sound like a dick and really dont mean to but do you see where this is going? We can go on all day placing the blame on others when we all know who is the one to blame. Funny though isnt it, sure the burnning legion could of got anyone to do the bidding that arthus did as a deathknight. But if he didnt turn evil, he would of never been there to meet Illidan and being a big part of the burning legions downfall. So, in the end it all works out for the better good kinda defeating the porpose of this discussion dont you think? Thats what anyone else would say but im thankful you put this onne up. You got the balls to speak your mind and back it up. Im not saying you totaly wrong, not at all but then again you see my point.(added by user sirbizzy)

[edit] Infobox?

suggestion: why not we make an infobox for the wc3 character's info such as affiliation, race, etc. instead of including a table in every WC3 character article? feedback welcome. Debroglie 09:59, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Question : Why isn't Arthas's last name Terenas? 68.192.173.170 01:18, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

His father's first name is Terenas, not last name.

[edit] spoilers

Is there a human picture of arthas available? Having a picture of him as a death knight is inherently a spoiler for someone who hasn't progressed to that point in the game. I would also suggest switching the order of his character classes to chronological order. -- stubblyhead | T/c 15:32, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

considering that the expension has exactly that pic as frontpage, I don't think that's necessary.

[edit] Arthas' psychopathy

I am putting back in the category "Fictional Psychopaths," because I believe (based on a lay observation) that Arthas qualifies as a psychopath.

Specifically, he fits over 50% of the clinical symptoms of psychopathy:

  1. Glibness/superficial charm - In spades
  2. Grandiose sense of self-worth - Definitely
  3. Need for stimulation/proneness to boredom - His dialogue indicates this
  4. Pathological lying - Unlike the classic psychopath, Arthas is rather blunt with his vicious intentions; however, this is likely because he is in a position of power.
  5. Conning/manipulative - Whoa yeah.
  6. Lack of remorse or guilt - He explicitly states this.
  7. Shallow affect - During the brief period after he has acquired Frostmourne, but before he has destroyed Malganis, he shows this trait.
  8. Callous/lack of empathy - Again, in spades.
  9. Parasitic lifestyle - One could argue that the undead lifestyle is the very epitome of parasitism.
 10. Poor behavioral controls - Not enough information
 11. Promiscuous sexual behavior - Not enough information
 12. Early behavioral problems - Not enough information
 13. Lack of realistic, long-term goals - Not enough information; however, his lack of direction after the Scourge has succeeded in summoning Archimonde suggests that he does indeed lack such direction.
 14. Impulsivity - Yes.
 15. Irresponsibility - Very yes.
 16. Failure to accept responsibility for own actions - Yes.
 17. Many short-term marital relationships - Not enough information
 18. Juvenile delinquency - Not enough information
 19. Revocation of conditional release - Not enough information
 20. Criminal versatility - Not enough information

Arthas satisfies 11 of the 20 and may possibly satisfy 12 clinical symptoms on just a superficial observation. A satisfactory observation of all of the clinical symptoms is diagnostically unnecessary (mental illnesses never perfectly demonstrate every symptom); in my admittedly unprofessional opinion, Arthas Menethil, the Lich King, is a psychopath. [edit] Should arthas be a villain or a Antihero?

Should this article be deleted from the catgrgy Computer and video game villains and be put in the catgrgy heros who turned evil?

An antihero is not a hero who turned evil, just a hero who does good in a way not traditionally associated with heroes. Arthas is not a hero, because- although at first he just wanted to save his people, by the end of WC3 he was a definite villain, and is now one of the biggest villains in the entire Warcraft universe. --D-Gen 22:55, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] A fictional psychopath?

People,it's unclear if he's crazy, sane or possessed (and Blizzard does not provide us with information about it).The fictional psychopaths category is for characters like Freddy Krueger,Jason Voorhees and Hannibal Lecter.I'm not sure Arthas belongs to such a category.Dimts 13:17, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

In which case he shouldn't be in the "Fictional possessed" category, either. And he's not an anti-hero. He may be a protagonist for 1/2 of the WC3 game, but he's clearly a villain, as evidenced by the fact that every playable faction in WoW wants him/them/it dead. [edit] Arthas in WoW

Ehh, I'm not too sure he'd even be in the next expansion, or the one after that for that matter. While it would be nice to push him around a bit, someone-- like, one of the contributors on WoWWiki or Metzen or someone. --said that he'd be too powerful for even a bunch of level seventy characters. --Super Bhaal 04:19, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
