The Southern Railway became part of Norfolk Southern in 1990.
The Southern Railway sold the line to Southern Alabama Railroad on October 31, 1988. The line was later sold by the Southern Alabama Railroad to Conecuh Valley Railroad after 1996.
The track from Goshen, AL, to Gantt, AL, was abandoned by the Southern Railway.
The Southern Railway sold 8.7 miles of track from Gantt, AL, to Andalusia, AL, to the Andalusia & Conecuh Railroad in June 1983. All of the line, except two miles near Andalusia, were abandoned by the Andalusia & Conecuh Railroad on October 17, 1987. The two miles of active track are presently operated by the Three Notch Railroad.
