[edit] History
Hollis and Eastern operates track that was originally opened by the Wichita Falls and Northwestern Railway and the Wichita Falls and Southern Railway in 1912. Both railroads were soon purchased by the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad (MKT).
The Hollis and Eastern was incorporated on October 15, 1958, beginning operations on the former MKT Wellington branch on May 15, 1959. The railroad was purchased by Republic Gypsum Company in 1971 which abandoned the section between Hollis and Duke in 1975.
