[edit] Football career
[edit] Leeds United
Farrell started his career with Leeds United. Farrell signed for Carlisle United on a months loan in 2002.[2]
[edit] Carlisle United
Following a successful loan spell at Carlisle United, Farrell signed for Carlisle United in a deal that could rise to £50,000 depending on appearances.[3] In 2003, Farrell was placed on Carlisle United's transfer list as part of manager Paul Simpson's clear-out.[4] Farrell said he is prepared to wait patiently to earn a regular place in the first team, telling the club's website: "Karl and Magno have both been playing really well, so I can't really say much. I've only started one game this season in the LDV. I've got to keep working as hard as I can and make sure when my chance comes I take it."[5] Farrell was released by Carlisle United in 2005, along with teammates Kevin Henderson, Carlos Roca, Brian Shelley and Chris Beech.[6]
[edit] Exeter City
Farrell signed for Exeter City in 2005 on a one-year deal.[7] Soon after joining Exeter City, Farrell said he feels the Grecians have the belief and the right kind of players to get promoted, saying: "The players are confident, and we have a really good side here. It's very similar to the Carlisle United side of last year which I got promoted with."[8] Farrell was released by Exeter City in 2006.[9]
[edit] York City
Farrell joined York City after being released by Exeter City in 2006.[10] Farrell scored his first goal for York City in the teams 2-2 home draw with Southport on September 23, 2006.[11]
York City manager Billy McEwan has set Farrell a 15-goal target for the season, saying "Craig tells me he's scored six goals and had six disallowed this season so he's getting in there. I'm looking for him to get 15 and still believe he can get that."[12]
