8:00AM-9:00AM is the third episode of Season 6 of the drama series 24.

Assad drives up to Jack's location and Jack gets in the car as they both trail the handler of the failed suicide bombing attempt. The handler receives a call from Fayed who says that he must drive somewhere before returning. At CTU, Bill Buchanan briefs the White House on the suicide bombings with casualty estimates: St. Louis: 112, Baltimore: Over 200. CTU informs President Wayne Palmer that Jack is working with Assad but has gone dark and is not in contact with CTU. CTU receives a phone call seconds later from Fayed, who demands to speak with the President. Fayed is put through to Palmer and proposes a ceasefire to the attacks. Palmer doubts Fayed after his last attempt at a ceasefire was a lie, but eventually hears him out. Fayed states that the US Government is holding 110 "so-called enemy combatants" at Palmdale Air Facility. Fayed wants all the "freedom fighters" on an aircraft to be flown to a destination of his choice by the hour. Palmer questions this being his endgame. Chief of Staff Thomas Lennox questions President Palmer on freeing terrorists but Palmer retaliates by saying this will buy them time and give the public some time to think about the deaths.

As Jack and Assad continue to trail the handler, Jack notices it will become harder to trail the handler without giving themselves away as they approach city limits. Jack strongly suggests getting CTU to help but Assad refuses and says that they killed his men and he refuses to work with the enemy. Jack says "you're working with one now." Jack is eventually able to persuade Assad to allow him to call CTU. At CTU, Milo and Morris get into a verbal argument with Milo ending up threatening to fire Morris if he does not follow orders. Chloe receives a call from Jack which is forwarded to Buchanan. Jack tells Buchanan to give him satellite support in tracking the car, but Bill says it will take at least 30 minutes to retrieve coverage. Jack needs to buy some time before the satellite is put in place. He asks Assad whether or not the handler would recognize him. Assad does not think he will.

Buchanan fills in Curtis Manning on the situation and sends him in Jack's direction. He tells Curtis that he is working Assad, which causes Curtis to become confused on whether CTU is working with Assad. Curtis reluctantly follows orders to the location.

Jack carjacks a civilian's vehicle and speeds out towards the handler and Assad's location. He purposely rams into the side of the handler's car. Both cars stop and Jack starts to yell at the handler for causing the "accident". Assad pulls up and supports the handler saying that he is a witness to the accident. Jack goes back into his car and speeds away. The handler and Assad start talking and Assad offers to give him a ride to wherever he is going. The handler accepts, but before he and Assad enter the car, Assad calls Jack's phone and leaves it on as he stows it away. Jack fills Buchanan in and patches him into the call while he begins to pursue Assad's car.

Back at Fayed's warehouse, he is informed that Palmdale is increasing in activity and is questioned about the whereabouts of the component. Fayed says that Ahmed will be here soon.

Ahmed leads Jillian, Ray and Scott at gunpoint to the back of the house. He then demands Ray follow exactly what he says and for Jillian to retrieve supplies to dress his wound. He tells Ray to go and exchange a package with a man in return for something else. Ray is reluctant at first but Ahmed threatens to kill Ray's wife and son. Ray is forced to accept Ahmed's plan and is told to call back when he arrives at the drop area.

At the White House, Karen Hayes briefs President Palmer on Jack's progress along with the Palmdale situation. He is informed that in order to meet the deadline the prisoners must be released within 10 minutes. He orders them to board the buses and continue with the release with the deadline. In the car, Assad continues to read out directions out loud to CTU so they are updated on their location. Jack meets up with Curtis and they proceed to Assad's location. Curtis tells Jack in the car that he is sorry about what Jack went through and is glad he's back. Curtis then adds that Jack is now working with a terrorist and begins to try and make him feel as if he is wrong. Jack does not think so. Curtis becomes very adamant on Assad needing to pay for his past deeds but Jack says it is not their call to make. Curtis responds, "We'll see."

Ahmed complains to Jillian that her treatment is not working since he is in too much pain. She says that there are painkillers in the kitchen and Ahmed orders Scott to retrieve them. Scott goes the kitchen and finds the pills, but also hides a knife in his back pocket. After a momentary hesitation with the knife held behind his back and repeated orders by Ahmed and his mom to sit down, Scott ends up putting the knife back into his pocket and sits back down.

At Palmdale Airbase, a sergeant is shouting out orders to all the prisoners. He eyes a prisoner constantly while making these orders. The release of the prisoners is being monitored by President Palmer. Lennox informs the President that the FBI has arrested his sister, Sandra Palmer. She and her boyfriend/client, Walid al-Rezani are placed at one of the FBI's provisional detention facilities. Al-Rezani is moved to a different room and Sandra is uncuffed and given a phone connected to the President. Wayne scolds Sandra for being arrested because of her defiance. Sandra retaliates by accusing his administration of civil rights violations. Sandra demands Walid's release but Wayne does not allow it, releasing only her instead. Walid, along with several other men, are being checked into the facility when one of the men does not listen to a guard. Walid stands up for the man and tells the guards to let go of the man, but is instead attacked himself by the guard and taken to interrogation.

Back in Assad's car, he continues to casually ask the handler questions regarding where they are going. The handler starts to become worried but eventually his worry subsides. He asks to be dropped off at a street corner, and CTU has him on satellite. Assad meets up with Jack and Curtis. Curtis confronts Assad and relieves Assad as part of this operation and is searched for weapons. Jack promises to take care of him once this is over. Assad understands. The handler is followed to a storage facility filled with ammunition, including some C-4. Jack realizes it's a dead drop, and Fayed is not at the location. Buchanan orders the teams to move in and take him alive. However, an agent is spotted by the handler, and a firefight ensues. The handler pulls out a grenade and drops it in front of the plastic explosive and kills himself along with the materials located inside, including a computer. Buchanan fills the President that the operation has failed. President Palmer is asked for his orders on the Palmdale situation to which he responds, "Load them on the plane." The sergeant continues to shout orders at the prisoners and loads a bus as the officers leave the airfield. Behind the sergeant, on the bus, a shadow is seen hiding. Fayed is briefed on the fact that the President has complied and the camera is trained onto a briefcase.

Ray arrives at the address Ahmed sent him to. He gives the package to a man, Marcus, who tears it open. It turns out be a few bundles of cash. Marcus tells him he needs more money as the component cost him more than he thought it would. Ray pleads with Marcus saying there is no more money, and he needs the component. Marcus does not care but allows Ray to use his phone to get more money. He calls Ahmed who tells him to do anything to get the component. Ray tells Marcus the money's on the way but wants to see the component first. As Marcus gets it, Ray grabs an object. Marcus shows the component to Ray, and when Marcus turns around to place it back on the shelf, Ray hits him in the back of the head. They fight, and Ray ends up accidentally killing Marcus after repeatedly pounding Marcus' head on the concrete ground.

At CTU, Chloe is able to recover the most recently accessed file, but it is in Arabic. Jack summons Assad over to translate. He says it is a list of electronic components for a detonator, but it turns out to be for a nuclear device. Curtis becomes infuriated, saying that Assad knew all along. He is restrained by Jack. Assad points out a reference file: Sovtel 3, which is a compact bomb referred to as a suitcase nuke. One of the nukes was supposedly taken by a man called Saif al Din, a codename of an unknown man. Assad recognizes him as Hassan Numair. Numair turns out to be a terrorist being released from the Palmdale airfield. Assad recognizes that this is the endgame. The terrorist attacks were used to free this one man. Buchanan orders the release to stop and Nadia Yassir calls the President. The photo of Numair is uploaded to soldiers on the airfield. He is not found on the plane. Meanwhile, on a bus a gunshot is heard. The sergeant walks towards the back and opens up the bathroom door. Numair is there hiding. The sergeant tells him to hurry as Fayed is waiting.
