[edit] Plot
Abu Fayed lands his helicopter to pick up the three nuclear bombs and contacts Dmitri Gredenko, a former Russian general who defected to the United States. Gredenko is extracting revenge against the United States because his former country was afraid to use nuclear weapons against the West and lost the Cold War. Gredenko supplied the five nuclear suitcases to BXJ technologies, the company which Phillip Bauer and his son, Graem Bauer worked for. Gredenko hopes to frame the Middle East for detonating the three remaining nuclear bombs. Meanwhile, back at CTU, Phillip mourns over the loss of Graem, and learns that Gredenko is in Los Angeles. He calls Liddy, head of security for BXJ, directing him to murder Gredenko before CTU finds him. Phillip fears that Gredenko (if captured) may confess to CTU, implicating Phillip in the nuke attacks. Chloe O'Brian consoles with Morris O'Brian who is emotionally upset that he will be responsible for any deaths occurring from the three nuclear bombs being detonated, because he gave up the activation code to Fayed in order to save his own life. Chloe assures Morris that CTU will find Fayed before any more bombs are detonated. Despite the fresh injuries he incurred from being tortured, including a hole drilled into his left shoulder area, Morris returns to work a half hour later.
White House Chief of Staff Thomas Lennox and Reed Pollack secretly meet in the boiler room to discuss President Palmer's actions in the past hour. Pollack is angered that the president's decisions may cause more American deaths and suggests having him removed from office. Pollack also reveals that he is working for others, but refuses disclosing who it is to Lennox. Lennox reluctantly agrees to Pollack's request in obtaining the President's itinerary.
With no leads in finding Fayed and Gredenko, Marilyn Bauer recalls to Jack that she followed Graem to a safe house that purportedly was Gredenko's hideout. Recalling the house and the route she followed, Jack takes Marilyn to find Gredenko's location. Marilyn tells Phillip about Jack taking her, who lets her know that he is taking her son, Josh Bauer, home. Phillip lies to Josh about street closings and diverts to a motel. Once at the motel, he calls Marilyn and tells her to listen without revealing anything to Jack. He confesses to her that he killed Graem, and that he will also kill Josh if she does not follow his instructions to take Jack to a specific different house. Marilyn complies, sending Jack and a CTU tactical team to that house that has been rigged by Phillip's men with explosives. As Jack and the tactical team raid the empty house, the bomb is spotted, about to detonate. Jack narrowly escapes from the house before it explodes. As this happens, a couple of Phillip's men pursue and attack Marilyn and Milo (who was in the CTU van with Marilyn). Milo and Marilyn elude Phillip's men by blowing up the van with hand grenades stored inside.
Jack calls for all of his unit members to respond; no one answers, implying all have been killed or so seriously injured that they are unable to respond. The episode ends with Jack noticing the exploded van, and him not knowing whether Milo and Marilyn are safe, injured, or dead.
