"Head Creeps" is a song by the Seattle grunge band Alice in Chains. It was the fifth track from their final studio album Alice in Chains. It is one of the three songs written entirely by Layne Staley. (The others being "Angry Chair", and "Hate to Feel".)
It is about his heroin addiction that would ultimately lead to his overdose death on April 5, 2002. The lyrics 'No more time' are a reference to his urge to quit, while the following lyrics 'just one more time' reflect the 'creeps' in his head telling him to keep going. It was also used as the background music of tribute videos to Layne in Alice in Chains 2006 shows. The lyric "Someway my Head Creeps", is often used in the internet community in forum signatures of the late singer.
Although never confirmed, it was suspected that a music video would have possibly been made for this song; however, the decreasing health of Staley by 1996 prevented such measures from happening.
Jerry Cantrell, on the song, claimed it "scared the hell out of me how dark it came out. Honestly its one of those songs that just makes you shake when you hear it."
Head Creeps was rated as the #10 Alice in Chains song of all time by fans on the AICfreaks.com survey in February 2007. [1]
