Hula Hoops

Hula Hoops are a potato-based snack product, in the shape of short, hollow cylinders. They are named after the hula hoop, a similarly-shaped toy. They are popular in Ireland and Britain. They are currently available in six flavours: Original (Ready-Salted), Barbecue Beef, Cheese and Onion, Roast Chicken, Salt and Vinegar and Prawn Cocktail. They are produced by KP Snacks, part of United Biscuits.
Hula Hoops are either known as crisps or potato snacks. Interesting to note that due to a legal battle with the makers of crisps, KP are no longer allowed to call their potato-based snack 'crisps', this led to the removal of KP's website whilst they make the necessary changes.[citation needed]
Hula Hoops packets have traditionally been red,[citation needed] and this remains the colour for the original flavour. Various on-pack promotions and TV advertising have ensured their popularity over many years.
It is popular practice to thread the eater's fingers through the hula hoops, as if wearing rings and eat them off like that. Although, in the case of the eater no longer being a child and thus having fingers too wide to do so, they are placed on (or, in the eventuality of the fingers still being too large, on the pad of) the fingertip.[citation needed]
