Barry Eugene White (Galveston, Texas, 12 settembre 1944 – Hollywood, California 4 luglio 2003) è stato un cantante e produttore discografico statunitense.
Crebbe nei quartieri meridionali di Los Angeles; membro di una gang a 10 anni, a 17 fu messo in prigione per il furto di 30.000 dollari di pneumatici per Cadillac.
Terminata la detenzione, all'alba degli anni Sessanta iniziò ad esibirsi dapprima in gruppo poi come solista con poca fortuna, mentre riuscì ad avere un qualche successo come autore. Nel 1969 mise insieme un gruppo di tre cantanti donne chiamato Love Unlimited.
Nato come risposta al leggendario gruppo delle Supremes, nei due anni successivi, con White nella veste di autore dei brani, arrangiatore e produttore, il gruppo riuscì ad avere un contratto con la 20th Century Fox Records e a piazzare in classifica la ballata soul "Walking in the Rain (With The One I Love)".
Il gruppo crebbe in fama nella decade successiva e White sposò la prima voce, Glodean James. Fu lavorando ad alcuni demo che la casa discografica gli propose di cantare egli stesso, invece che di limitarsi a produrre canzoni per altri.
Tra i suoi successi si annoverano, tra gli altri, "I'm Gonna Love You Just a Little More Baby" (1973), "Never, Never Gonna Give You Up" (1973), "Can't Get Enough of Your Love, Babe" (1974), "You're the First, the Last, My Everything" (1974), "What Am I Gonna Do With You" (1975), "Let the Music Play" (1976), "Your Sweetness is My Weakness" (1978), "Change" (1982), "Sho' You Right" (1987), e "Practice What You Preach" (1994).
Cronicamente iperteso per diverso tempo, anche a causa della sua notevole mole, subì un blocco renale nell'autunno del 2002 ed un infarto nel 2003 che lo costrinse a ritirarsi dalle scene. Morì a 58 anni per un altro blocco renale presso il Cedars-Sinai Medical Center di West Hollywood.
Una sua autobiografia, "Barry White: Love Unlimited", è stata scritta insieme a Marc Eliot e pubblicata nel 1999.

Il 4 luglio 2003, giorno della sua morte, Italia 1 trasmette, probabilmente per una strana coincidenza, l'episodio dei Simpson dal titolo La festa delle mazzate, dove Barry White appariva come guest star.
