Cliff Martinez

Cliff Martinez (Bronx, New York, 5 febbraio 1954) è un compositore statunitense di colonne sonore. Ha lavorato anche come batterista per Captain Beefheart, The Dickies, The Weirdos, Lydia Lunch e Red Hot Chili Peppers (1984-1985).

Cresciuto a Columbus (Ohio) Cliff Martinez iniziò la propria carriera da compositore per Pee Wee's Playhouse, nota trasmissione tv dedicata a Pee Wee Herman. Tuttavia all'epoca era più interessato a collaborare con gruppi rock, per cui ha suonato la batteria da sostituto. In seguito decise di dedicarsi interamente alle colonne sonore.
Compose alcuni brani per Sesso, bugie e videotape, diretto da Steven Soderbergh. Con il regista ha lavorato anche per i film Traffic (2000) e soprattutto per Solaris (2002), inserendovi suoni elettronici ed arrangiamenti orchestrali.
