[edit] Simpsons characters images
Hello Kaizersoze,
Can you point me to where you got Simpsons images. I want to convert them to PNG format for better quality and smaller size. Thanks. --Berkut 04:19, 26 Nov 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Appology From z0manifest
Kaizersoze I like to deeply appologies, for I was assuming(Mother of all ???? ups word) with my version which is bought in the UK. I thought all other DVDs had the same content. Like millions of others around the world, 'a fan of the Simpsons' and saw a chance to add something to Wikipedia I couldn't resist but wanted to change it. Mind saw mistake whilst skim reading, instant thought,' MUST CHANGE!!!'. Once again I appologise.
I like to thank you for your free efforts to correcting and adding info to Wikipedia.
Appology is on my Discussion.
[edit] Wikipedia:Peer review/The Simpsons
Hi, I'm about to shift this to the archives. Are you still working on this or actioning it? I haven't seen a comment in a while! - Ta bu shi da yu 01:07, 3 Feb 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Simpsons DVDs release dates
Hi there. Out of interest, why did you remove the other release dates from The Simpsons DVDs page? I don't see why only the R1 dates should be in the article. After all, in the case of the first two seasons, they came out in the UK before they did in the US. BillyH 22:24, 12 May 2005 (UTC)
- I removed them to simplify things. Since the sets are primarily designed for Region 1 (some came out earlier in other regions only for marketing reasons), and the cover artwork and descriptions in the page are all from the Region 1 releases (some regions, for instance, had different episodes on different discs on season one, which is why there's also an "Differences in other regions" section), I decided to just leave the Region 1 release dates, and if you'll notice I specified R1. But, if you really want to add other release dates, it wouldn't be fair not to include Australia, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Latin America, China, and wherever else these sets were released.
[edit] Worker and Parasite
hi Kaisersoze, thanks for uploading all those amazing images of The Simpsons show. I was wondering, if it is possible to get an image or a screencap of the "Worker and Parasite" show? I would appreciate it if you got back to me on that, thanks. Endut! Hoch Hech! Gryffindor 14:17, August 6, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] List of The Simpsons TV ads
Hi. I think that the TV ads should be kept in List of The Simpsons TV ads, and removed from List of The Simpsons episodes, since they're not actually episodes, and since the episode list is already a very long article. What do you think? Cheers! -- BDAbramson talk 00:05, August 15, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] List of The Simpsons episodes by theme Vfd
Hi! Since you created this article, I thought I should let you know that I have nominated it on Vfd.
No ill will or anything, my reasons for nominating it are explained there. I just thought I should let you know, in case you don't have the article on your watch list.

Fair-use images, such as the ones on User:Kaizersoze/Images, cannot be used on User pages. I've deleted the aforementioned page, since its only contents were these fair use images. Ral315 (talk) 01:45, 10 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Screencap request
I know you are majorly involved in Simpsons related articles, though I don't know if you screencap for the episode articles... If you do, could you cap the episode "Fear of Flying", in the scene where Homer winds up in the Cheers style bar? I'd love to add such a screenshot to the main Cheers article, which I'm currently working on. Staxringold 22:49, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Infobox Film and the rating field
Please feel free to contribute to the discussion about it at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Films. There's a discussion topic about the subject at the bottom of that page, and that page usually gets more replies than the template's talk page. - Bobet 23:39, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Simpsons infobox
Wow, this infobox is complicated. I'm just wondering, is there any reason to have the {{{show_title}}} parameter in Template:Infobox Simpsons season episode list? Presumably this isn't used anywhere but on Simpsons episodes, so it could be replaced with 'The Simpsons'? Flowerparty■ 05:14, 21 March 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, I must've left it in when I was designing the infobox, modifying it from an already existing one. So yeah, it should be fine if you change it. As for the entire thing being so complicated, it's so I could get everything looking nice and color-coded properly :)
- (notice how it gives elements in the infobox the correct color, just by specifying season = X in the main "front-end" template)

[edit] Fair use
From your talk page, it seems you don't have a great understanding of our image use policy and philosophy. The DVD cover images do not add significantly to the "List of The Simpsons episodes", and are serving more of a decorative purpose. Fair use claims could be made for use in The Simpsons DVDs, where they are actually illustrating the subject of the article (one of the requirements, see WP:FU). The fairuse tag is not a carte blanche for uploading copyrighted images to Wikipedia. ed g2s • talk 20:13, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
- Gee, then I wonder what a page like this is doing on Wikipedia? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:DVD_covers
- By your logic, Wikipedia is inherently a fair use violation, just because of the way it works. -Kaizersoze 20:19, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
- It is automatically created by the (fairly recently implemented) category system. Possible software fixes to prevent this have been discussed. ed g2s • talk 20:24, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
- Look, I'm not going to continue arguing something as idiotic as thumbnails of DVD cover art on an episode list. There are literally thousands of other pages on Wikipedia which contain much larger galleries of dvd covers, movie posters, album cover art, and all kinds of other fair use images. I also noticed your post about the South Park episode list in Wikipedia_talk:Fair use. Seeing as that list was nominated and voted a featured list, I think it's safe to say that your calims don't have any merit. If dozens of Wikipedia contributors voted to make List of South Park episodes a featured list, then other episode lists should follow its example with DVD covers and screenshots for every episode. I don't see how you can argue that in any way. -Kaizersoze 20:59, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

i watched "Pranksta Rap" and Kirk Van Houten is wearing an eye patch, did he lost his eye?
[edit] Image naming
Could you use episode names instead of production numbers for the simpsons images? I think it looks cleaner and less confusing.
- I do use episode names for the promotional artwork and screenshots that go in the episode articles. I only use production numbers for the promo images that have to be cropped to 4:3 to fit in the episode list (which I started doing for season 17)
- Example: Image:Marge_and_Homer_Turn_a_Couple_Play.png vs. Image:HABF16.png

You are going to have to put DVD cover on that Simpsons Season's 1-5 picture, Because I was reminded to put on the same thing everytime I take a picture of a DVD and upload it. By the way, One person has been putting that picture off the Simpsons DVD article. Don't worry I reminded him not to and if he keeps on doing it I will report him. I hope you get this message. Hey, are you deleting all these tables? I reverted one change by accident. Kaisershatner 19:38, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

- Cool, sorry to bother you. I was RC patrolling and moved in too fast. If you check my contribs you can see which episode change of yours I reverted. Again, sorry. Kaisershatner 19:47, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use debate regarding television screencaps
Currently, there is a debate on Talk:List of Lost episodes regarding whether or not use of a 1/30th stillframe visual excerpt next to a list of audiovisual works (such as List of Lost episodes or List of Simpsons episodes) is in accordance with WP:Fair use, and has even resulted in the protection of the page (involving User:Ed_g2s).
If you have any opinions regarding fair use on the List of Lost episodes page, please feel free to express them as I believe these two pages are sister projects.

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Family guy logo.png)
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Family guy logo.png. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. meco 19:08, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Smartboy814
I noticed that you reverted vandalism by Smartboy814 on several articles about future airings of the Simpsons. He also has a bad habit of adding unsubstantiated ages to character profiles that I've reverted here [1], here [2], here [3], here [4], and here [5]. I've warned him about it a couple of times, and these types of contributions seem to be all that he has offered here so far. If you should see any more vandalism please report him to the Administrator Intervention Against Vandalism page [6]. Thanks. Danielross40 00:31, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Simpsons DVDs
I respect your attempt to improve the DVD article for the Simpsons, but I think that you should maintain a consistancy among the seasons (which I admit, already isn't quite there and needs some cleaning). Mainly in your numbering of the episodes instead of bulleting them. That's just fine to do, but it should probably be done for all seasons. I'm guessing you did this just to be able to do the commentary table? I'll be honest. I don't think we even need to mention who comments on the episodes besides saying "the following people do commentary tracks on some episodes: [list]". If we start listing commentators and all the easter eggs AND all the episodes and discs - why don't we just have an article for each season? It's getting to be too much info for a general encyclopedia article on the DVDs (it's not an ad for the set after all). since the 'who's commentarying' is info contained in the DVD set itself (I believe it's written in the books as well as mentioned on the commentaries themselves), I don't think we needs that much detail on an already massive article. Perhaps you should look at splitting the DVDs into an article on each season? Then there'd be far more room for that kind of detail, and it would take a lot of the pressure off this article. Those are my thoughts; I'm certainly not going to impede what you're doing, but I thought I'd voice my concern about it to you. Feel free to respond here; I'll keep it on my watch list. Cheers TheHYPO 01:30, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, the names of all the commentators aren't listed in any of the DVDs past season 2. The 1st and 2nd seasons had the names listed in the language menu for each episode, not in the booklet; and the booklet in every season after that only tells that there is a commentary for each episode, not who's in it. (The reason why season 8 was easy to add is because the list was published by Fox in their release info for this DVD) So I think if anything, the list of commentators would be the most valuable thing for anyone looking for a handy reference for these DVDs. In fact, this was one of the things I was thinking of originally adding when I created this article back in 2004, but never got around to adding it. Anyway, the table I'm working on now could easily go in the place of the episode list if article length is a problem. --Kaizersoze 04:27, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
-
- I don't think either is entirely useless, but I think that the info on each DVD set is getting large enough that they might warrent their own article (if not 'simpsons: season 1 dvd', then 'the simpsons: Season set DVDs' for all the sets. Remember, there could ultimately (albiet in a while) be at least 19 of these sets. That will be a massive page. If each set had its own page, you wouldn't need to make the 'x' ' 'x'... type table. You could do a basic |1.|title|commentators|any other info| type table entry for each episode... That's just my thoughts. Your table seems like if it were implimented for all the seasons, it would get somewhat confusing with some seasons having a wider variety of commentators. I dunno. I'm just thinking the article needs to be cut back somehow. I'm also skeptical of the fact that virtually EVERY DVD release of 4 episodes has its image on the page (in some cases lengthening the page). Maybe it's these 'single' releases that need their own article. I really don't know, I'm just trying to make it easier to use. TheHYPO 13:57, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Brad Bird.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Brad Bird.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. [edit] Unspecified source for Image:Homer_Simpson_2006.png
Thanks for uploading Image:Homer_Simpson_2006.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 22:54, 23 February 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECU≈talk 22:54, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image tagging for Image:Derek_Smalls.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Derek_Smalls.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

[edit] Advice on uploading images
Hello!
Thanks for uploading some pictures to Wikipedia. I wanted to make sure you were aware of some of the requirements and good practices for uploaded images.
- Pick an image name.
- When uploading an image, pick a file name that is descriptive, and unique. Remember that many images may be uploaded about the same topic, and remember that names are case sensitive.
- Source the image.
- On the image description page, explain where the image came from. If you created the image yourself, then say so. If it's from the web, give a URL. If it's a screenshot of a movie or game, or a scan from a book, give the title.
- Provide copyright and license information.
- This part is a little bit trickier, but it's very important. The copyright of the image generally belongs to whomever created it.
- If it's a photograph you took, or an image you created (modifying an image that already exists doesn't count) in software like Photoshop or GIMP, then you own the copyright. To upload it to Wikipedia, you must agree to license it under the GFDL (which allows anyone to use it, but requires that they give credit to the original author and requires that any further edit to the image be licensed under the GFDL as well) or release it into the public domain (which allows anyone to use it for any purpose without restriction.) Do this by placing an appropriate tag on the image description page, like {{GFDL}} or {{PD-self}}. Be sure to mention that you created the image. If you're using {{PD-self}}, you may also want to use {{NoRightsReserved}}, since there is some dispute as to whether one may grant items into the public domain.
- If you didn't create the image, or the copyright somehow belongs to another party (like a screenshot, which you might "create", but the copyright belongs to the author of the movie or video game), then you need to find another tag that describes the copyright status of the image. Images used on Wikipedia need to be free for our use and the use of sites which reproduce our content. This means that images cannot have a restriction such as "only for use by Wikipedia", or "for non-commercial use only", or "for educational use". Images without a free license may be usable in certain articles under fair use, but such a use should be justified on the image description page.
- Describe the image.
- To another reader, the image may not be immediately understood. A caption in an article doesn't explain the image to a visitor who sees it on its image page. Put a brief explanation of what is in the image on the image description page, similar to what you might include in a caption on an article.

[edit] Image sources
Hey, currently The Simpsons is up for FAR because the images do not have sources, we have replaced all of them apart from Image:Simpsons on Tracey Ullman.png and Image:Simpsons cast.png, you were the uploader of the first image, and I believe the uploader of the original second image. If you could provide an exact URL source for the images that would be good. If not, then replacement images from different sites will have to be used. Thanks. Gran2 07:07, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
