Numel (ドンメル Donmeru?, Donmel in original Japanese language versions) is a Fire/Ground Pokémon from the Pokémon series of games. It is listed as Pokémon #322 in the National Pokédex, and #101 in the Hoenn Pokédex.
Numel's name is a portmanteau of "numb" and "camel", meaning 'Numb Camel' because of its camel appearance. Its Japanese name is a portmanteau of 鈍 (don), dull-witted, and the English word "camel".

[edit] Biology
Numel stores magma of 2,200 degrees Fahrenheit (1204.44 degrees Celsius) in its body. If it gets wet, or if the magma cools, Numel's movements become sluggish. Even at full capability, Numel is extraordinarily dim-witted, and does not notice being hit, similar to the water-type Slowpoke. (In Pokémon Colosseum, after an attack, it nods its head in a 'What just happened?' way.) However, it cannot stand being hungry.
Numel resembles a very squat (and as the name suggests, numb) one-humped camel. It has dark grey rings around its eyes, and the area around the top of its hump is usually green, giving it the appearance of a dormant volcano. (However, when Numel is a Shiny Pokémon, this area is bright blue.) It has bangs on the top of its head, and shows a permanently-vacant expression on its face.

Numel has low stats, as usual for basic pokemon yet to evolve. Its dual fire/ground type permits it to learn both fire and ground attacks (such as magnitude and flamethrower) naturally, however, it also makes it very weak to water. Numel has a special ability called Oblivious, which means that Numel cannot be affected by the move 'Attract'. Numel evolves at level 33.
Wild Numel may hold a rawst berry.

Numel can be caught in Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald, but not in any other version. It can be found in the Fiery Path and the routes around it (the Fiery Path is located near the skylift to Lavaridge Town). It can also be snagged from Cipher Peon Solax in Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness.

Numel appear in a few episodes, but 'Game Winning Assist' (Season 7: Pokémon Advanced Challenge) has the main Pokémon subject as Numel. Ash and Company discover a ranch full of Numel. But, Team Rocket are planning to steal the Numel. As usual, they fail, and Ash and friends continue on their journey.
