Martin the Wizard, a.k.a. Martin The All-Powerful (formerly "The Great Wizard"), is the main adversary of the webcomic Mayhem & Magic.

Though he is currently a high-level and very powerful Lawful Evil wizard, Martin started his career as a lowly apprentice. He served the powerful Neutral Good wizard Zophar, who tried to instill in the boy a sense of justice. Zophar clearly failed in this task, as when Martin was old enough, he zapped his old master into ashes, which he then kept in a jar as a reminder of his evilness.
After the citizens of his hometown drove him out for slaying an honorable man, Martin joined up with a group of characters known as the Order of Evil (the counterparts to the heroic group known as The Order of Good). He served in this group for ten years alongside comrades Dentin (a Neutral Evil druid) and Servin (an evil knight of infinite power). While a member of the Order of Evil, Martin aided his teammates in seeking out a rare artifact called the Gem of Endless Life. This priceless relic could give immortality to its wearer, but it could also steal life from others if used by a person (or people) with evil intent. This is exactly what Martin did after he and the Order of Evil found the Gem. With his teammates killed, he went off to find new allies.
In the course of his search for ultimate power, Martin has twice come into conflict with the Order of Good (only one time being seen in the webcomic itself). He has lost both times. He has found a new accomplice in the Madam of Murder's "brother" Darkness. He has also learned the source of the ultimate power: the Hand of the Undying King, which Martin managed to find and steal right under the Madam of Murder's nose, by using one of Darkness' magical artifacts. However, he realized too late that he would need a sharp implement (which he doesn't have) to cut off his own hand in order to replace it with the Hand.

When the Order of the Law arrived at Castle Dark (the castle in the Material Plane where "Shadowsis" Castle is in the Elemental Plane of Shadow), Martin confronted them. Revealing the Hand of Vecna which he had swiped from the Madam of Murder, Martin proceeded to slice off his own hand with Darkness's sword (with much difficulty, as it has been revealed that Martin is left-handed) and affix the Hand of Vecna in the empty socket. He renamed himself Martin the All-Powerful, and threw lightning bolts down upon the Order until Daven commanded a swift retreat. He has not yet learned of the Eye of Vecna or the Destroyer's Sword, meaning that the Order of the Law will get a headstart in finding the two items that will let them fight with Martin on his own turf.
