[edit] Fictional character biography
On May 2, 2006 the fictional Hanso Foundation's website (www.thehansofoundation.org) fell under attack from a hacker known only as "Persephone." By navigating the website in certain ways, visitors were shown images, played audio and linked to other sites, all of which suggesting that The Hanso Foundation's purpose is far darker than "reaching out for a better tomorrow".
On June 17, a woman calling herself Rachel Blake began posting videos online. The first was found hidden on the website Monster.com. In the videos, Rachel describes her mission to expose the Hanso Foundation and bring their shady dealings to light.
On June 30, in a post on her online blog, Rachel revealed that she was responsible for the hacker attacks on the Hanso website, confirming many of her followers' suspicions that she is, indeed, "Persephone".
On July 22, during Comic-Con International, Daniel Tunney appeared in a simulated confrontation of two of the series' producers and two actors during a Lost panel discussion. She claimed the Hanso foundation is real and accused the producers of using its entity for entertainment purposes; she argued that the Foundation has done "terrible things" in Africa, Iceland and Sri Lanka. She later identified another Lost Experience website: hansoexposed.com. Security then escorted her away.
[edit] Personal Information
A main character in the Lost Experience, Rachel Blake is a 24 year old woman investigating The Hanso Foundation, effectively leading players through the Experience as the main protagonist.
From a tender age, it became clear that Rachel Blake was a beautifully gifted young woman, and it was little surprise that she managed to secure a prestiguous job working for the Widmore Corporation when barely out of her teen years. However, after her mother's death, Rachel wondered how a single parent could have afforded her daughter's first-class education, and began to look at her finances. She discovered that her education had been paid for by a mysterious trust fund, the money for which had been donated by the Hanso Foundation, a Danish based scientific research company. Intrigued by this, Blake quit her job (receiving a healthy severance pay) and began to investigate the corporation, consequently realising that they were involved in corruption of the worst kind. With new resolve, Rachel decided to continue her investigation of the company by travelling to their headquarters in Copenhagen, at the same time exposing them for what they truly are to the world.
Under the guise of the hacker "Persephone", Rachel sabotaged the Hanso Foundation website, exposing truths about their dealings. She then moved on to publish blogs and videos on her investigations, culminating in her publishing a video which would "tear the Foundation apart".
In her final video, it was confirmed that Rachel is the daughter of Alvar Hanso, explaining why his company financed her education.
A recap was posted on Rachel's blog late in the Experience.
