[edit] Image Tagging Image:Manchester Mela2002.jpg

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Manchester Mela2002.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit] Figure skating

I don't think that the list of countries who do *not* participate in international figure skating competitions is very interesting or relevant to an article on figure skating. Dr.frog 22:02, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

  • I'm not trying to exclude countries that don't have established competitive programs, just keep the main figure skating article focused on the most important information about the sport. It already mentions that the Ice Skating Institute sponsors competitions in countries that are not ISU members. E.g., the Skate Asia competition you mentioned is an ISI event. Perhaps you could expand the ISI article to include more details? Or start a new article for Ice Skating Institute of Asia, the ISI's Asian affiliate? (Their website is at [[1]].) [edit] Messages of 18 Feb 2006

Hi, and thanks for the messages you left me... I was away over the weekend. To get an SVG flag made, you can either make your own in a vector image editor (such as Inkscape), or you can leave a message on the SVG request list. Regarding the licence tags, the only way to change it for a new version is to edit the image source page (done through the normal way using the "edit this page")—this edits the summary text under the image. Hope this helps. Greentubing 07:49, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] salvation army

Hi Rhyddfrydol, I made the map you asked for and put it on the Salvation Army page. Tell me if theres any problems -- Astrokey44|talk 14:35, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

No worries, I like making these sort of world maps, so if theres any more articles you think need them let me know -- Astrokey44|talk 23:25, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ross Dependency

I can make one--but I need to know if there are any specs for the flag, even if its an unofficial flag (eg the flag of Devon is unofficial but there are recommended specifications for it.) If there aren't any I'll go by eye/tracing. Greentubing 06:18, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing me to Vex. Mundi, and sure you can ask me to make flags. I found the designer of the RD flag, and I'll get to work on it as soon as I get a reply from Grutness (he really did design it). Just two caveats: I'm quite busy with university work so I might not be able to do some things, and also I'm not too good with complex designs. As for deletion, I upload my images to Commons where as long as its Public Domain/free licence its safe. Greentubing 07:01, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 1982 Commonwealth Games

ok Ive changed the map, looking at all these micronations and colonies makes it difficult, could you check that I got it right. I might get to work on the others when I have more time -- Astrokey44|talk 00:34, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

fixed gibraltar, hope thats better -- Astrokey44|talk 00:50, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Template:Antarctica claims

I've taken out the Prince Edward Islands, they are not considered an Antarctic territory as they are not under the Antarctic Treaty. Cheers Astrotrain 23:26, 15 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Edit summaries

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labelled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

When you leave the edit summary blank, some of your edits could be mistaken for vandalism and may be reverted, so please always briefly summarize your edits, especially when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you.

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Dk born2.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Dk born2.gif. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 20:57, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wales and Somaliland

===>Re: Flags of unrecognized states Wales is not a state, and cannot recognize Somaliland as such, so I deleted your entry. I would be interested in reading where you got this information, though. -Justin (koavf), talk 22:11, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

===>Nation and state I'm certainly not saying that Wlaes isn't a nation; clearly it is, but it's simply not a state, and cannot conduct its own foreign affairs. Also, inviting the guy to the assembly is not recognition; in the article, he claims that he takes it as recognition, but there is no Welsh understanding of recognition. -Justin (koavf), talk 17:15, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Pierre-Yves Darget

This is an article just begging for a nomination to be deleted; for a few reasons. The article is too short; it's probably better to draft articles in your sandbox until stub status has been reached.

Additionally, I can only find one film that this actor has ever been in. That doesn't warrant his inclusion in an encyclopedia unless he did something extremely unique in an extremely unique film.

Unless you can find more information to do a proper article on him (and can provide a valid reason for his having an article), I'd recommend that you {{speedy|Author requests deletion}} the article; you're entitled to do that since you created it.

I'm removing his name from the List of gay porn stars as well, he doesn't qualify as a "star".Chidom talk  23:33, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

Being listed in the IMDB does not justify an article in Wikipedia; he has exactly one film from 1984 (Harem); one film does not a star make. It also used to be absurdly easy to be listed in the IMDB; I have an entry as well ( ! ). The List of gay porn stars is maintained primarily to keep track of articles about stars that have been written and articles that need to be written. Since it's unlikely that Mr. Darget will ever have an article, his name doesn't belong on the list. If you still want to list him, please respond on my talk page with reasons why. Thanks.Chidom talk  22:12, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

I'm not singling out Mr. Darget. If there are other articles for actors who only had one film, it is highly unlikely that there should be. The film, or something associated with it, would have to be of great importance to justify an article in an encyclopedia. As I said before, inclusion in IMBD isn't reason enough to be included here. This is my entry: IMDB link; also, see my User page for additonal info. I certainly don't deserve an article in Wikipedia. Furthermore, if other articles do exist on the basis of one film listed in the IMDB, that doesn't mean this listing should be here. (Somewhere that I can't locate at the moment, there's an excellent comment about "just because they did it" doesn't mean it's right.) I'm copying all these comments the article's talk page so others can express an opinion; further comments should be made there, please.Chidom talk  23:30, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] move

Re Richard Leese: we do not put honorifics (Sir in this case) in article titles - I can't be bothered to find it in the rule book but it is well established. Much more importantly, we never change an article title by copy and paste - we always use move to preserve the edit history. -- RHaworth 10:24, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Article move: Countries which could join the Commonwealth

I have moved the article to Requirements for entry into the Commonwealth of Nations, with a view to expanding it. Hopefully, the expanded article will list full criteria, under both the Edinburgh criteria (which are its current focus) and the Harare criteria, and discuss their importance and implications. Bastin 14:48, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Salvation Army Filmography

The NA tag was recently created for articles that are not articles. This mostly means lists, such as Salvation Army Filmography. See the discussion here for some more info.--Supernumerary 23:04, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] NA Article Class

I notice your query on User:Supernumerary's talk page about the NA-class rating. It means Non-article, it is for pages aren't really articles and cannot receive a rating on the scale. You can contact me on my talk page if you have any other questions or post them at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Films. Cbrown1023 21:44, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Leka photo

Yes it is,I study with him. I imagine other pictures you have are simply out-dated, any on the internet, which i looked into putting up, are several years old. Hope this clears it up!--Scorpion36 20:28, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:NelsonBC.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:NelsonBC.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 13:38, 24 February 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nv8200p talk 13:38, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
