"Save You" was the second single from Pearl Jam's 2002 album, Riot Act. The band played this song when they appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman to support the album. The single features the B-side "Other Side", which can also be found on Lost Dogs. "Save You" was included on Pearl Jam's greatest hits album, Rearviewmirror: Greatest Hits 1991-2003.
The guitar riff for the song was written by guitarist Mike McCready.[1] During the recording session for the song drummer Matt Cameron lost his headphones. He was able to finish the recording session by watching Jeff Ament's fingers as he played the bass.[2]

[edit] Lyrical meaning
Eddie has hinted on occasions that this song is about former drummer Jack Irons and his drug addictions which led him to leave the band after the 1998 Australian Yield Tour.
It is also possible that the song is about Mike McCready's struggle with addiction.
[edit] Music video
A music video directed by James Frost was filmed for the song at Seattle's Chop Suey club in September of 2002, though it was merely a live performance rather than a conceptual video. It was one of five videos shot at the club to promote Riot Act (including "I Am Mine", "Love Boat Captain", "Thumbing My Way", and "1/2 Full"). Up to that point the band had not made any music videos since 1998's "Do the Evolution".
