[edit] Would you like an RFA?

PS: I haven't created the page yet, I'm waiting for your reply. bibliomaniac15 01:44, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

I for one would support the RFA. Adambro 15:58, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
It's alright. I gave a similar response to Majorly's offer too. bibliomaniac15 18:55, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

(sorry I've added it in the wrong sections, but I'd support your RFA too.)

  • No, no it didn't sound harsh, thanks for bringing it to my attention and happy edting! Respectfully.....TellyaddictEditor review! 13:06, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
I thought you would be a good addition for the mop with your excellent work on rail systems and user interactions. bibliomaniac15 02:36, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

It doesn't matter. If you feel you have a need to expand into other topics, by all means do so. bibliomaniac15 02:56, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] OK

I followed the link from the Tyne and Wear Page and it must have went to the wrong article and I incorrectly added the template there, please accept my utmost apologies!TellyaddictEditor review! 13:03, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

  • If you fell your not ready for an RFA thats fine, I had a failed RFA in Early Jan and deep down I knew it was going to fail (and it did - dont laugh!!). Thanks for your comments.TellyaddictEditor review! 13:15, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
  • Thanks for creating the shortcut, If you have an interest and would like to become a member, please add your name to the participant list (this is completely optional). [edit] Places of interest in Hertfordshire

I see that this article has lost its Articles for deletion vote and has now gone. I suggest material from the article is added into the main Hertfordshire article under appropriate categories describing the most significant cultural sites within the county. eg Antiquities Religeous monuments Museums etc.

Minor items can be included under the various sub categories for Hertfordshire.

Any comments? Lumos3 15:00, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Homer slips.

Don't beleve Saintrotter's personal attack on Homer slips. Saintrotter is a right wing radical, who also layes in to Hayford Peirce. Steer well clear of Saintrotter.--Longend. 05:15, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Watch out, Saitrotter put a right wing slur on my user page. --Homer slips. 05:34, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Saintrotter claimed they both had a vendetta on him.I wiped it from there user pages.--Lilidor 12:25, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

He's put it back, so I and my 2 frends are chosing to leave this 'Nazi-pedia'.--Lilidor 01:38, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Remember, Wikipedia's policy on personal attacks states that users' affiliations are irrelelant to their contributions and should never be used to dismiss their views. It further notes to comment on article content and not the character of other Wikipedian users. Ok Don't beleve[sic] my "personal attack" lets berry our heads in the sand and ignore http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Irma_Grese#War_Crimes.3F where homer uses foul language and swears... after all it's only right wing lies --Saintrotter 11 March 2007

[edit] WA2

I don't know that the 'no fewer words than 50' rule needs changing, I personally like the idea of longer branches as it lessens the chance of a huge number being created, as was the situation with the last main game. If that's the reason for the rule, then I'd keep it, and possibly embolden it on the page with an explanation. It's more than likely that someone created the shorter branch without seeing the rule at the top; maybe it would be okay to change the word limit on the rogue branch, I doubt the branch's creator would mind. Phileas 20:35, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] My RfA

Thank you for your support in my my recent RfA in which I withdrew because the oppose votes were almost equalling the supporters. I then decided to leave my account (Tellyaddict) and start fresh under a new username, however I quickly decided to reconsider after another user persuaded me not to leave the account - I am now glad I did reconsider because leaving that account and creating a new one was too hasty so I've decided to improve rather than starting again! I hope we can remain civil and that there were no negative feelings caused. Again, thanks for your support even though I withdrew it, your vote is much appreciated! Regards - Tellyaddict (Talk) 19:43, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Class 378

I'd be extremely grateful if you could take a look at the Class 378 page and leave your opinion. It has been listed as an AfD on the basis that I have not provided evidence confirming the Class number. I have done this now, but those who are promoting its deletion are not prepared to accept the sources I have given. Given your attempts to provide civility during the whole {{British TOCs}} incident, I respect your opinion and would appreciate you contributing to the debate on this particular issue. Thanks Hammersfan 11/03/07, 13.10 GMT

Thank you. I'm grateful for your measured opinion. While I disagree that this should be merged at all with Class 376 (obviously since I'm the advocate for keeping this a seperate article!), I am at least gratified that you feel that this issue deserves its own special mention, and that you put emphasis on "for now". I'm also interested to know what your opinion is of the source that I've found to prove my case. To me, as Wikipedia is chock full of references that cite government websites, then to me this one is as valid as any of those. Hammersfan 11/03/07, 19.40 GMT

I realise it's very cheeky of me to ask, but do you think you could direct some others to the discussion so that their opinions can be garnered as well? I'd be most grateful - grateful enough to possibly even buy you a pint :-) Hammersfan 11/03/07, 20.10 GMT

[edit] Transport in Milton Keynes

Thanks for creating this cat, it was overdue for consistency with other articles. I don't know want the conventional qualifications are for entry to this generic cat: if you have a mo, could look at Milton Keynes Grid Road System, Milton Keynes redway system, Wolverton railway works, Wolverton and Stony Stratford Tramway and even Grand Union Canal to see if they should be added, please? --Concrete Cowboy 13:10, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

Ta. The canal link (MK-Bedford) is mentioned in the Grand Union Canal article. It is still just a proposal, though the consortium have won 250k or something to work up a fully costed proposal. They seem confident of getting a spur at least as far as the M1 but then there is a dirty big hill (Brogborough) in the way before the drop down to Marston Vale. If they get that much under way, it qualifies for an article, I think - but not before. --Concrete Cowboy 13:32, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
I wasn't sure about any of them, which is why I asked. Changing name of grid system was on my to do list, just haven't had time to do all the redirects. So thanks for that. --Concrete Cowboy 17:36, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Rail Route Maps

Signalhead and myself have been working on these this evening for various Scottish lines and railways. Callander and Oban Railway, West Highland Line, Far North Line, Cathcart Circle Lines, Aberdeen Railway, Argyle Line and North Clyde Line worked on to date. --Stewart 21:57, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Moving

I don't see a particular need to move the Wikipediholic test as it is a piece of humor and not actual policy. It's well-known at its current location and moving it, in my opinion, would only cause more trouble than it's worth. Where would you like to move it to and why? - Mgm|(talk) 08:39, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

  • Wikipedia:Are you a Wikipediaholic? is a good location for a redirect. It's easier if the page title is short and to the point (as per Wikipedia:Naming conventions). The more words you add, the more a newbie (or a veteran user for that matter) can get confused and mistype the URL. Also, nothing links to the title you suggested. Moving the page would result in thousands of redirect pages of pages that already point to the existing title. You're free to suggest it, but I don't think it's a good idea to move it. - Mgm|(talk) 12:46, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
  • I looked at Wikipedia:Wikipediholic. What title are you referring to when you say the current one is longer than what you have in mind? - Mgm|(talk) 12:52, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
  • Ah, I see. Go ahead and suggest a move. - Mgm|(talk) 12:56, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
  • That would be an overuse of capitalization. Sometimes there's reason for keeping them like Main Page and sometimes it's just to be in line with other pages. WP:MOS advises against using too many capitals in page titles, so the non-capitalized title is probably better. - Mgm|(talk) 13:28, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Word Association suggestion

Hi, as one of the more prolific contributers to the Word Association game, I just want to point you in the direction of my suggestion on the Wikipedia talk:Sandbox/Word Association page. Any ideas/comments gratefully received. Phileas 21:57, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bristol railway stations

Rather than edit the old template, I thought I might as well start from scratch as the title is rather specific and also too long to type from memory! I have left the old one for the time being in case someone objects to the change (S-rail, anyone?). Geof Sheppard 08:09, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] edit counter

Essjay's edit counter doesn't work anymore due to his departure from wikipedia, you may want to choose a new counter. --ROASTYTOAST 02:31, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WP:TRAIL

I don't know whether Pickle's talk page is on your watchlist, but I thought I should echo here the comment I made there, that use of "same" at junctions on these boxes should probably be avoided. Chris cheese whine 15:20, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] High-speed lines

Actually, the lines shown there include *all* existing dedciated high-speed lines and lines under construction that have articles on Wikipedia. (The French and Japanese lines aren't linked seperately, due to there being an "overview" type article). So, the title is valid. Tompw (talk) 13:30, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

To quote High-speed rail: "High-speed rail is public transport by rail at speeds in excess of 200 km/h (125 mph)." (bolding mine). CTRL aside, the fastest lines in the UK have a max speed of 125 mph (200 km/h). So, they don't qualify as being "high-speed". (Anything over 125mph requires in-cab signalling, as drivers cannot see line-side signals reliably... in-cab signalling is effectively what defines HSR, but that's a seperate issue).
The West Coast Main Line currently runs at 125mph max... I know Virgin want to run 135mph, but that's strictly a proposal only at the moment. If it happened, then the WCML would be added to the template. Tompw (talk) 23:21, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned redirects

Nothing further, unless there's anything else "wrong" with the redirect in question; redirects can be "orphans", without any need to do anything about them. Alai 15:36, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] RfA animation

I feel now i am asking a really random question but can this animation be slowed down as i cannot read all the messages...?! Simply south 01:13, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi, thank you for your feedback. I'll see what I can do – Qxz 01:21, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WP:TRAIL icon

I am pretty sure what you have created would count more as an rf than an lg. Simply south 17:00, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

Not sure, I thought I had it correct. The closed line ones are now on Glasgow Central Railway. --Stewart 17:12, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] LTS

Yes, thinking about it that would be better. I've added the Junction names and linked to the lines they connect with directly. MRSC • Talk 12:59, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Grays

I got the Grays population from the following page: neighbourhood.statistics.gov.uk - WOSlinker 19:13, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Watford DC Lines

You are one of the "lead editors"? I am correct, am I not. It being so, you should simply admit it, rather than hide in shadow. It is not "decent" of you to claim glory and recognition for an article which has failed the test.Sheepcot 07:54, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sonning cutting

Thanks for the kind words, I'll pop the references in over the next couple of days. Regards, Nick. Nick 19:35, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WA?

Wikipedia:WikiProject Western Australia? I can't imagine why that would be worrying, why? Did something I or someone else said indicate that it would be worrying? What specifically would you be worried about? Peace, delldot talk 21:26, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Hey, sorry to take so long to reply, my stupid internet connection is out at home (I'm editing illicitly from work). I don't think it would be a problem, except possibly in an RfA where all your edits are so scrutinized. Personally I still don't see any legitimate reason why it's a problem, as long as you're making productive contributions (maybe it would be a problem if MOST of your edits were just goofing around, but that's not the case here by a long shot). You might want to ask someone who's more familiar with the RfA process and trends if that's what you're curious about (since they do seem to change somewhat). Personally I think we should be giving out the mop much more easily than we currently do, but others do have different standards. My advice would be to just make sure you're spending plenty of time making valuable contributions like adding content or references to articles; then it should be no one's business what you do for fun. Peace, delldot talk 17:00, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Template

Well, actually its not working, I saved the page and tried it on the sandbox by using show preview and it was not displaying properly, maybe you could contact User:Froth as he is apparently very good with template work, sorry I couldn't get it working but I'm sure it'll work eventually. Regards - Tellyaddict 15:13, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Midland Main Line template

Can I invite you to a discussion on the future of this template, and the possibility of creating two template from this one at Template talk:Midland Main Line. L.J.Skinnerwot|I did 18:05, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] {{WPTIS}}

Just a quick note... I fixed two code problems on this template that were causing things to display weird on transclusions. Once you finalize the assessment and importance categories, let me know and I can update {{TrainsWikiProject}} as well. Slambo (Speak) 19:22, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
