Srikakulam district

Srikakulam is the second-most backward district in Andhra Pradesh, India. It has a population of 2,537,593 of which 10.98% is urban as of 2001. [1]
Srikakulam district has the longest coast line in the state of Andhra Pradesh. It is bordered by Orissa on the east and north, Vizianagaram district on the west, Bay of Bengal on the south.
Two of the rivers that pass through Srikakulam district are River Nagavali and Vamsadhara.
Srikakulam District was created out of part of Vishakhapatnam District on August 15, 1950.

There are 12 Assembly Constituencies and one Parliamentary Constituency in Srikakulam district.[2]
Srikakulam is the only Parliamentary Consituency in this district.
The Assembly Constituencies are Amadalavalasa, Etcherla, Harishchandrapuram, Ichchapuram, Kothuru, Narasannapeta, Palakonda, Pathapatnam, Sompeta, Srikakulam, Tekkali and Vunukuru.
