The Sound of Girls Aloud is a "greatest hits" anthology by British girl band Girls Aloud. It was released in the UK on October 30, 2006, and went straight into the UK album charts at #1 - Girls Aloud's first ever #1 album - selling 84,354 copies in its first week of sale.
The album includes all of Girls Aloud's singles to date and three new tracks, including the new single "Something Kinda Ooooh". There is also a limited edition bonus disc, featuring unreleased songs, demos and other material.
The lead single taken from this album is "Something Kinda Ooooh" which managed to reach #3 in the single chart and is one of the group's best singles to date in terms of sales and chart positions.
The second and final single to be taken from the greatest hits compilation is "I Think We're Alone Now". Even with extremely high sales of the album, the song managed to reach #4 on the single chart, remaining in the top ten for a second week.
Straight after the release of "I Think We're Alone Now", a new version of the album was released to include the single version of the track rather than the original version.
Since its release, the album has sold in excess of 750,000 and has been certified 3x platinum because of shipping numbers. It is their biggest selling album to date.
