Depeche Mode, Baseldon, Essex çıkışlı New Wave grubu. New Romantic`lerin en önemli gruplarındandır.
1980 yılında Composition Of Sound ismiyle Martin L. Gore, Andy Fletcher ve Vince Clarke tarafından kurulmuştur. David 'Dave' Gahan'ın katılmasından sonra Depeche Mode (Fransız Moda dergisi aynı zamanda) ismini almışlardır. Daha sonra Vince Clarke (Yazoo ve Erasure) gruptan ayrılmış ve 1982 yılında Alan Wilder gruba dahil olmuştur. Alan Wilder (Recoil), 1 Haziran 1995 tarihinde gruptan ayrılmıştır. 80li yıllarda synth-pop olarak nitelenen türleri gittikçe rock'a doğru kaymıştır. David Gahan gelmiş geçmiş en iyi erkek vokaller arasında sayılmaktadır. Bir çok müzisyen tarafından şarkıları coverlanan grup efsanevi gruplar arasında yer almaktadır.
Günümüzdeki kadrosu, Dave Gahan, Martin L. Gore ve Andy Fletcher'dan oluşmaktadır.
'Music For The Masses', 'Songs Of Faith And Devotion' ve 'Violator' başarılı albümlerindendir.
Türkiye'de, Abdi İpekçi (30 Ekim 2001) ve Kuruçeşme Arena (30 Temmuz 2006)'da Avrupa Turu kapsamındaki İstanbul konserleri gerçekleşmiştir.
