Ultimate Avengers 2 (also known as Ultimate Avengers 2: Rise of the Panther) is the sequel to Ultimate Avengers. Part of the film takes place in Wakanda and the Black Panther is featured as a central character.
Ultimate Avengers 2: Rise of the Panther was released on August 8, 2006, and sold along side a Minimate block-figure. There were three different figures (Iron Man, Captain America, and the Hulk), although their designs were based on their 616-counterparts, and not their Ultimate Marvel designs. It premiered on Cartoon Network October 21, 2006

Mysterious Wakanda. It lies in the heart of Africa, unknown to most of the world. An isolated land hidden behind closed borders, fiercely protected by its young king - the Black Panther. But when brutal alien invaders attack, that leaves the Black Panther no option but to go against the sacred decrees of his people and ask for help from outsiders. And so he turns to the Avengers... Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Giant Man, Wasp, Black Widow and the Incredible Hulk. These mightiest of heroes have battled the aliens before, and barely survived. They thought it was over. They were wrong.

As Wakanda's young prince T'Challa returns from the outside world, he learns his kingdom has fallen under attack by the Chitauri, led by Herr Kleiser, the alien shapeshifter who supposedly died in 1945. After his father is murdered by Kleiser, T'Challa assumes his rightful position as King and as the Black Panther, protector of Wakanda. He seeks the aid of Captain America, Kleiser's old enemy, but a sullen and bitter Captain America is too busy trying to keep his mind off his own problems by fighting. Nevertheless, General Fury orders the Avengers to assemble. All but Thor, who is currently out of touch, and the Hulk, imprisoned after his actions during the last Chitauri invasion, travel to Wakanda on an intelligence mission.
After speaking to Black Panther, Captain America learns why the Chitauri are invading: they seek the Heart of Wakanda, a mountain of unrefined Vibranium that landed as a meteorite and has been used to produce their weapons. The Wakandans have also used a crashed Chitauri ship to help defend their home. However, the other Avengers are seen and attacked, Iron Man sustains heavy damage from the Wakandans, and the team is forced to flee. Captain America briefly turns back when he sees a Chitauri soldier, and captures it with the aid of Black Panther. However, it is a trap set by Kleiser, who disguised himself as the Panther. The Avengers and their ship are seemingly destroyed as a horrified T'Challa watches from the ground. Fortunately, the group is rescued by Thor, who has disobeyed the wishes of Odin after seeing a vision of a massive Chitauri ship, and teleports them to safety. Wasp is still badly injured in the attack, and sent to the infirmary upon returning to base.
T'Challa is stripped of his authority by the Elders for bringing outsiders to Wakanda, shortly before the Chitauri ship arrives and places a forcefield around the planet. His attempts to call for help are seen as further treason. However, the Avengers (minus Wasp and Hulk) arrive to help anyway, after the Chitauri craft powering their defenses is destroyed. Meanwhile, Bruce Banner finds the key to defeating the Chitauri craft while being forced to watch recordings of the Hulk's actions during the last invasion, but is nearly killed before he can reveal it: gamma radiation weakens Vibranium and turns it brittle. Betty Ross confirms his theory, and with the aid of a recovered Wasp, she goes off to Wakanda to help with a portable Gamma Ray generator. Bruce is left behind, having been exposed to a fatal dosage of knock-out gas.
In Wakanda, Captain America and Black Panther battle Kleiser and finally defeat him, trapping him within the unrefined Vibranium. Meanwhile, Iron Man and Giant Man head into the Chitauri craft to destroy its power core with the gamma ray generator. Iron Man succeeds in destroying the core, but Giant Man is fatally injured by shrinking himself, then growing to his larger size soon after. Iron Man himself is badly injured while crashing to Earth, but is revived by Thor. Unfortunately, nothing can be done for Giant Man, who dies in Wasp's arms.
Having returned to New York, the Avengers learn that Banner has transformed and escaped. But with the Chitauri gone, the team can relax once more. Tony Stark helps himself to a stiff drink, Captain America settles down and flirts with Black Widow, Thor discusses some of his previous adventures with General Fury, and Wasp still mourns for Giant Man, while Betty wonders where the Hulk has disappeared to, and Hulk peers down at her before wandering off on his own.

- Some HYDRA agents appear at the beginning of the movie, fighting against Captain America. They are seen wearing their classic green / yellow uniforms while they have not been seen in them in the Ultimate comics.
- Iron Man is revealed to have a heart condition, similar to his 616-counterpart. In the Ultimate Universe, Stark has a brain tumor.
- The Black Panther is introduced. T'Challa has yet to appear in the Ultimate comics imprint.
- Thor also mentioned at the ending of the movie his victory on Surtur: this was an actual war that started in the comics in Thor vol. 1 #337.
- The ship that the Avengers use during the movie is seemingly based on the Quinjet model shown in Avengers #401, during the Onslaught saga.
- The World Trade Center appears in a vista shot of New York City.[1]
- The War Machine armor is used by Iron Man in the final battle against the Chitauri.
