WBAB is a radio station on Long Island with a rock format. Located at 102.3 FM, the station is licensed to Babylon, New York and is owned by Cox Radio. The station is also simulcast on 95.3 FM in eastern Suffolk County.
WBAB first went on the air in 1958.
It faces stiff competition from New York City classic rock station WAXQ, which is viewed by many as the superior station. WBAB is known for its heavy play of Pink Floyd (primarily cuts from Dark Side of the Moon), Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zeppelin, and a small bunch of recurring new hits, including Jet's "Cold Hard Bitch" and Green Day's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams."

[edit] Transmitter Problems
On May 17, 2006, WBAB's microwave studio-to-transmitter link (S.T.L.)was jammed for about 90 seconds while the signal jammers aired a song called "Nigger Hatin' Me" by the 1960's-era white supremacist singer known as "Rebel Johnny". The station apologized that same day in a news conference outside the station.
The investigation of this matter is ongoing.
The same incident occurred a couple of weeks earlier when the same song aired on sister station WBLI.
The signal of the competitor RadioX was also hijacked, but in their case it was just a blank signal
[edit] Recurring Segments
- "Long Island Led", a block of 3 Led Zeppelin songs introduced by Jimmy Page and Robert Plant.
