Hello, this is the sixth of my archive pages (see also my other archives). Please leave responses even to this page, on the main talk page where I and others will see them! Thanks! zoney ♣ talk 13:35, 14 Feb 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Thank You!
Thanks for your "Keep" vote - it seems that about half of Wikipedia is made of Warhammer haters, but who still consider other more trivial subjects as encyclopaedic, such as Pokemon. Anyway, thanks again!
[edit] Thanks!
Got your nice note on my talk page and I wanted to thank you for it. Folks like you make this project worthwhile. Best, Lucky 6.9 16:18, 30 Sep 2004 (UTC)
I also read your note to me concerning the Ridge Route article making the Main Page. Thanks for letting us know, Zoney! You are a kind sysop, indeed. --avnative 13:14, Oct 1, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Geography of Ireland
Nice edits just now. I think the article is close to FAC standard ad would love to give it that extra push to get it their, especially as Junior Cert seems to be doing really well without me. Any suggestions for further work? Filiocht 15:10, 5 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- I'm taking a look at the Geography article at present, hopefully I can add a few more tweaks. I'm not likely to add to Junior Cert, I've asked on talk there what more needs added, as it looks about as comprehensive as it can be (to me). The Geography article seems reasonably comprehensive so far, I think we should be able to push it to FA standard. While we will be able to improve Ireland greatly next week I hope, it is broader even than culture of Ireland, and so it's probably unlikely we will get that to FA either. But Geography is a candidate IMO. zoney ♣ talk 15:16, 5 Oct 2004 (UTC)

- I think culture could get there, too. Need to steal some stuff ftom the article on the Travellers and do something on new immigrant communities. Also I hope to add a section on cultural instutions from the Arts Council to the ploughing championships. We'll see. If W. B. Yeats makes it to FA (looks likely), I want to push to get J. M. Synge there, too, and that needs a lot of work. Then Lady Gregory and Sean O'Casey to have an Abbey set, of sorts!Filiocht 15:22, 5 Oct 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Irish language
Halló Zoney, I have found you at User talk:Io. Would it be possible to come back with some question about ga.wikipedia? Between others I would like to know what articles about dogs exist at ga.wikipedia already. See Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Dog breeds#linking to Wikipedias in other languages. Thanks and regards Gangleri 21:14, 2004 Oct 7 (UTC)
- Thanks for the answer! Gangleri 01:01, 2004 Oct 9 (UTC)

Thanks for the congrats: I was really surprised to see James Joyce on the Main page so soon. Filiocht 12:44, 8 Oct 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks for your help!
I appreciate the help with the Castletownshend image. Doing the markup on images is very strange to me, but it's fun. Joyous 00:29, Oct 9, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Irish town stubs
You seem to be leading the project of lets-get-all-irish town-stubs-up-to-scratch, and I'd like to help. How can I be of most use? What needs most attention? JOHN COLLISON | (Ludraman) 18:56, 10 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Shouldn't it be
- Townname (ainmbaile in [[Irish language|Irish]]...
- Just a small thing, but IMO it reads better. Whaddya think? JOHN COLLISON | (Ludraman) 19:56, 10 Oct 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Graph
Whatcha think? I made it in excel. I think all the data on the axes detracts from it, though. JOHN COLLISON | (Ludraman) 23:29, 10 Oct 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Irish images
Thanks for your kind words on the Skerries harbor photo. I was in Ireland this past summer, and I have a good many pictures. Most aren't particularly high quality, though: obvious vacation pics. I do have a nice shot of the actual castle of Castletownshend, a street shot of Baltimore, and the beach on Sherkin Island. Also the Ceim Hill Museum, although there's no article on that, and I can't imagine that it's notable enough for one. And sheep. Lots of sheep. Are the Irish worried that the sheep will organize and take over the govt? Joyous 00:58, Oct 11, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] A proposal - your comments requested
Hi zoney! On Wikipedia talk:Administrator Activity Proposal you had expressed interest in Crecopia's alternative proposal to the Admin Activity one, involving "duty admins". I have written up a more formalized proposal that covers a similar topic, and I would like your thoughts on it. Please see User:Whosyourjudas/proposal. Thanks! Whosyourjudas (talk) 19:34, 13 Oct 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Graph
Ya, sure - well noticed! Mebbe the CSO have stats for all of Ireland... BTW in the ROI article should it go under hist or demographics? JOHN COLLISON | (Ludraman) 20:52, 14 Oct 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Athlone
Why did you put Athlone under the category 'Towns in Roscommon' when 2/3's of the population live in the Westmeath side? CGorman 18:18, 15 Oct 2004 (UTC)
-
- Yes, its in Westmeath. Kiand 00:20, 16 Oct 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Logainmneacha
Where are you getting the Irish language versions of town names? Dungloe is "An Clochan Liath", not "Dun gCloiche"....
- It appears there's a castle or something of that name. I'm using a rudimentary google search, in this case "Dungloe" and "Dun" (a guess). Hence the result! However, examining more carefully, even the results I had mention "An Clochan Liath". zoney ♣ talk 23:09, 16 Oct 2004 (UTC)

- Its much easier to use the index of a map. --CGorman 17:33, 17 Oct 2004 (UTC)

-
- Níl léirsceál agam le logainmneacha as Gaeilge!, I've no maps here with Irish placenames (and only small ones with English!). I generally use Multimap.com which has quite decent map of Ireland. (Zoom in a few levels to switch to detailed view).
- I have to use google to find the Irish placenames (well, I do use my Irish dictionary for common placenames). I had wondered how you seemed to have no problems!
- So do please check my edits if you come across any dodgy ones! :-) zoney ♣ talk 17:38, 17 Oct 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Belfast International (Ireland page)
I note your edit and summary that Aldergrove "certainly" doesn't have many international routes. easyJet fly to Alicante, Amsterdam, Paris, Nice and Malaga. There are also many charter flights to international destinations. Regards Mark 20:38, 17 Oct 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Zoney ....? HELP!
Zoney a chara,
Thanks for dropping a line! Yes, I know I'm making a mess of the articles, and as I would like to do a right job on them - and set up a page - I would be more than happy to get any help you might wish to give me.
Looking forward to hearing from you. Slan!
[edit] NAMBLA
Eh, I was only fixing a redirect on the article :-) I'll take a looksee anyways. zoney ♣ talk 21:16, 19 Oct 2004 (UTC)

[edit] From grid to sport
Do you know anything about Irish national grid reference system or Sport in Ireland? I just created both, but they're seriously lacking. I'm looking up stuff to put into them now? I nominated Sport on ICOTW aswell. JOHN COLLISON [ Ludraman] 00:16, 22 Oct 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Inamimate carbon rod
You know, this was actually in an episode. It was the one with the giant ants and the "The Right Stuff" parody.
