WPXY is a top 40 radio station licensed to Rochester, New York, which broadcasts at 97.9 FM. Its transmitter is located on Pinnacle Hill in Brighton, New York.
The station is referred to as "98 PXY" and its slogan is "The Number One Hit Music Station." It has been a top 40 station since 1982.
The station is currently owned by CBS Radio but is in the process of being sold to Entercom Communications.
This radio station features the personalities of Spezzano and Sandy, the Mayor Pete Kennedy, Mike Danger, and JB and Kasper. It also has a multitude of up and coming part timers. On The JB and Kasper show, they announced that one of them will be leaving the show on February 27th, 2007. They were giving hints daily as to who will be leaving, and they announced that JB has left.
