KJAQ is a commercial radio station located in Seattle, Washington, broadcasting on 96.5 FM. KJAQ airs an adult hits music format branded as "Jack FM".
[edit] History
The 96.5 frequency has a rich history in Seattle: From the early 1970's (employing the quadraphonic sound for a short time) until 1977 played R&B as KYAC. In 1977 the call letters swithed to KYYX and they were Top-40 until late 1982 when the station flipped to New Wave. In 1984 the call letters and format changed yet again, this time to soft AC(Adult Contemporary) as KKMI. Early in 1987, 96.5 turned into KXRX, a personality-driven album rock station (Robin & Maynard mornings, Larry Snyder mid-days, Beau Roberts evenings). This lasted until 1994 when the format went Country. Currently 96.5 is Jack-FM (Adult Hits).
