Galileo Galilei (Pisa, 15 ta' Frar, 1564 – Arcetri, 8 ta' Jannar, 1642) kien astronomu, fiżiku u filosfu Taljan li huwa assoċjat mar-Rivoluzzjoni Xjentifika.
Galileo huwa kkreditat li tejjeb it-teleskopju sabiex ikun jista' jifli l-stilel u l-pjaneti; infatti huwa rnexxielu jiskopri erba' mill-qmura ta' Ġove. Ta wkoll il-kontribut tiegħu fil-qasam tal-fiżika fejn għamel osservazzjonijiet u titjib dwar l-ewwel prinċipju ta' Newton, it-tieni prinċipju ta' Newton, kif ukoll qbil u support mat-teoriji ta' Nikola Koperniku.
Bħalma għamel Koperniku qablu, Galileo kien stqarr li x-xemx kienet iċ-ċentru tal-galassja u mhux id-dinja, il-Knisja Kattolika Rumana arrestatu u għedditu li toqtlu fuq bażi ta' tixrid ta' ereżiji. Biex jevita l-piena, Galileo kellu jistqarr li dak li kien qed jgħid, kif ukoll it-tagħlim ta' Koperniku kien kollu gideb. Il-Knisja xorta ġiegħelitu jibqa' maqful ġo daru sakemm miet.
Galileo ġie mogħti t-titlu ta' "missier l-astronomy moderna", bħala "missieri il-fiżika moderna", u "missier ix-xjenza". Ix-xogħol u l-esperimentazzjonijiet tiegħu huma meqjusa li jikkumplimentaw il-kitbiet ta' Francis Bacon u għenu mhux ftit biex jistabbilixxu l-metodu xjentifiku. Il-karriera ta' Galileo kienet tikkoinċidi ma' dik ta' Johannes Kepler. Xogħol Galileo huwa kkunsidrat maqtugħ ferm minn dak ta' Aristotle.
