Marco Polo
From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Marco Polo (1254 - January 8 1324) was an Italian trader and explorer. He went on a 25 year trip to China with his Father and Uncle during the Mongol Dynasty. Marco Polo became the first to travel on the Silk Road. He wrote a book about his travels, and became famous among the Europeans. They found his stories to be very interesting and strange, they had never heard of such things. This lead the population to be split into those who believed him and those who didn't.
Some scholars think that Marco Polo did go to China, but did not go to all of the other places described in his book.
