[edit] Alimbic Cluster
The Alimbic Cluster is a fictional series of planets and space stations located in the Tetra Galaxy. It is featured in Metroid Prime Hunters.
[edit] Biologic Space Laboratories
The Biologic Space Laboratories space station is a fictional space station in the Metroid series. It is featured in Metroid Fusion. In orbit above SR388, the home planet of the Metroids, it is used to research the planet's life forms. It houses creatures for research and holds a secret Metroid reproduction facility. When an X Parasite outbreak occurred, every creature on board was killed by the parasites, with the exception of the Metroids and a number of Etecoons and Dachoras. The station was finally destroyed when it impacted the planet's surface at the end of the game. The resulting explosion (attributed to the station's reactor) annihilated all known X parasites, the station, and the planet SR388
[edit] Ceres Space Colony
The Ceres Space Colony, named after the Roman Goddess, is mentioned in the prologue of Super Metroid. It is a large metal structure in an unnamed Asteroid field, with notable scientific equipment on-board.
The Station is where Samus Aran, after the events of Metroid II: Return of Samus, has deposited the only remaining Metroid larva for study by the Galactic Federation. In the game's intro sequence, a distress call is received from the station and Samus investigates. It is later revealed that the Space Pirate Leader, Ridley, has broken into the station. The crew is deceased and the Metroid larva is missing. At the end of a short series of rooms, Samus encounters Ridley in a pseudo boss battle. After the battle is concluded, a timer appears in the corner of the screen, beginning at 1 minute. This is the self destruct timer, and Samus must escape within that time. When the player escapes, a scene shows the colony detonating and Samus' ship flying away from it.
The fight against Ridley has two rules that make it unique in Super Metroid. Ridley can be defeated either by being shot 100 times or if Samus' energy is reduced below 30. However, Ridley is only 'defeated' in the sense that he grabs the Metroid larva and retreats. The boss 'battle' is more like an interactive cutscene in that it has a set outcome which cannot really be altered by the player.

K-2L is a mining colony from Earth that was destroyed by the Space Pirates, led by Ridley. The most famous survivor from the lost colony was a young Samus Aran, who was rescued by a bird-like race known as the Chozo. The entire story of this occurrence was told in the Metroid e-manga. K-2L has only been in an official Metroid game in Metroid Prime's instruction manual, although it has been somewhat referenced in the Japanese Metroid Fusion ending artwork.
[edit] SR388
SR388 (sometimes SR-388, rarely SR 388) is a fictional planet in the Metroid series. It is the setting of Metroid II: Return of Samus, and the Metroid creatures' home world. The Chozo had their own civilization on the planet at one point in time. Metroid Fusion takes place in a research station in orbit around the planet.
SR388's surface is rough, dry, and rocky. This world is host to many dangerous creatures and killer robots. The lowest levels of the planet, called the SR388 Underworld, are home to ancient Chozo ruins. Later in time, these structures were destroyed by the Metroids. The planet's core emits a strong gamma radiation, acting as a catalyst to the evolution of the Metroids.
By the time of Metroid II, the planet is overrun with various indigenous species as well as the Metroids.
Before the Chozo came to SR388, the destructive X Parasites were overrunning the planet with their vast, insurmountable numbers. The Chozo then introduced their great creation, the Metroids, into the environment. The Metroids did keep the X Parasites in check very well, but when Samus Aran eradicated the species in Metroid II because they were deemed too dangerous to ignore, the X came back in large numbers. One thing should be noted, as it may be a minor continuity issue: the X Parasites are first mentioned in Metroid Fusion, but they are never seen during the course of the Metroid II game. This could just mean that the Metroids regulated the X Parasites' numbers so well that there were relatively few left by the time of Metroid Fusion. It is also possible there were no full X Parasite colonies, which made them invisible to the naked eye.
At the end of Metroid Fusion, Samus sets the B.S.L. station to impact with SR388, which causes an explosion, destroying the all the X Parasites on the station and SR388 in the process.
[edit] Frigate Orpheon
A frigate of the Space Pirates that was present during Samus' attack on Zebes in Metroid. Samus' Gunship decodes a distress call from this vessel, and she goes out to investigate. The frigate, as it turns out, was on a research mission to research the mutagenic capabilities of Phazon and reconstruct Ridley. It was severely damaged after several Parasite Queen specimens broke free and started to wreak havoc inside the vessel. Samus eventually finds and defeats a Parasite Queen residing in the reactor core; this however caused the core to become unstable to the point of collapse, and the vessel needed to be evacuated immediately. During Samus' run to the docking hangar, she encountered Meta Ridley, which freed himself and disappeared through the ceiling. Upon escaping and returning to her gunship, Samus tried to track Ridley, who was flying to the underlying planet. However, she was unable to keep up, and decided to land on the planet for further investigation.
Frigate Orpheon is simply named Space Pirates Frigate in some English translations of the game, though the name Orpheon does appear in some Pirate Data logs.
[edit] Tallon IV
Tallon IV is the third planet the same star system also hosting Oormine II, Twin Tabula, Bilium, and Zebes. According to Metroid Prime, Tallon IV has a mass of 5.1 trillion teratons. The Chozo founded a colony here to live a more natural and less technological life. It is featured in Metroid Prime and makes a cameo appearance in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes.

Aether is a planet located in the Dasha region, and is home to two warring races, the Luminoth of Aether and the Ing of Dark Aether. In medieval science, "Aether" was a substance that was proposed to fill all of the universe's space.

Zebes is a planet located in the same star system as Oormine II, Twin Tabula, Bilium, and Tallon IV. According to the Metroid comic, it is the second planet from the sun, and has the designation of FS-176. Its name is sometimes spelled Zebeth due to ambiguous transliteration.

- A makeshift base on Aether (with rather pathetic and ineffective security systems), where a squad of Marines attempt to repair their downed ship.

- The introduction video from Metroid Prime: Hunters, depicts a city in which the Space Pirate Weavel flees from what appears to be GF police (only to stop and face them).
