The Brisbane Broncos will celebrate their 20th First Grade Season in the 100th year of Australian Rugby League. The Broncos started the season as reigning premiers.

After losing the World Club Challenge, The Brisbane Broncos started their season poorly after losing to the opening game against The Cowboys. They also lost their captain and five-eighth Darren Lockyer for 4-6 weeks due to injury however made a shock return for the Broncos only two weeks after his injury. The Broncos started the season with three losses on the trot but racked up their first win against the Roosters on Good Friday.
