Darius Boyd
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Darius Boyd (born in Brisbane, Australia on 19 July 1987), is a rugby league winger/fullback for the Brisbane Broncos in the National Rugby League competition.
After a watershed final year at Palm Beach Currumbin State School, where he was the Australian Schoolboys fullback and debuted for Burleigh Bears in the Queensland Cup, Boyd continued to take large steps forward in his career in 2006.
Aiming only to make his NRL debut, the talented fullback/winger backed up an impressive pre-season to not only debut in round 1 against the North Queensland Cowboys but hold that starting spot.
In fact, Boyd has not looked like losing his No. 5 jersey after scoring seven tries in 17 rounds, remaining solid on the kick return and rarely being caught out in defence.
Boyd filled in his desired fullback position from round 16 to 24 after Test and Origin custodian Karmichael Hunt fractured a foot bone in round 15. A poor beginning to season 2007 has placed his immediate first grade future at jeoporady.
