[edit] Degrassi: The Next Generation
The theme song to the television series Degrassi: The Next Generation was originally written by Jody Colero, James McGrath and Stephen Stohn (Executive Producer of the series).
Both the theme and the opening title sequence to the series have evolved over the various seasons of the series. Throughout the series (especially in the first two seasons), an acoustic guitar version of the song is used as an episodic score and featured in every episodes' credits. Occasionally, an alternate acoustic version is used in the credits; which initiates with a light electric guitar, then a light drumbeat starts, and finally the acoustic guitar chords in the original version are heard.
An extended version of the theme music featuring rapping written and performed by Turkish rapper Evren Ozdemir was the first track on the album The N Soundtrack (The N is the network which broadcasts Degrassi in the United States) and was also featured on the album Songs from Degrassi: The Next Generation released by Orange Record Label in Canada.

The music features a childrens choir and an adult female singer, to single light guitar strings and a basic drumbeat. As the music starts, Emma Nelson is on her computer sending out an e-mail. The camera zooms onto her screen, where she sends out an e-mail which physically enters a blue envelope. The envelope is then seen to 'cruise' around the school passing by the various characters, who are seen doing things typical to them. The envelope finally ends up in a girl's cellphone to which the series' title screen appears.

[edit] Summary
Initiates with a drumroll and features more lively drumming in the background with light synthetic chords. The video is entirely altered, and shows Ellie using her video camera as the music starts. The video then shifts to the Point of View of Ellie's camera as it seemingly goes around the school, recording the various characters doing character typical activities. Near the end, the camera films Mr. Raditch, who blocks it with his hand. This seems to shift it the view out of First Person as the final sequence shows Ellie filming Marco, who jumps around to which the logo appears on his back. Introduction of new castmembers: Stacy Farber, Andrea Lewis, Adamo Ruggiero, Amanda Stepto, and Stacy Mistysyn.
- Note: Daniel Morrison (Chris Sharpe) and Katie Lai (Kendra Mason) make appearances in the intro but are not credited as they are not regulars. Morrison appears during Miriam McDonald's segment and Katie Lai appears in Christina Schmidt's.

The theme song was completely changed from the children's choir to the version by Jakalope. Also, Christina Schmidt is deleted from the opening credits. This is also Dan Wood's, Daniel Clark's, and Melissa McIntryre's final season as regulars (Note: Daniel Clark and Melissa McIntryre return in season six as regulars again)

The theme song sung by Jakalope is still the same. Melissa McIntyre, Daniel Clark, and Dan Woods were deleted from the opening credits. Deanna Casaluce, Mike Lobel and Melissa DiMarco (who were recurring characters) were added to the opening credits. And it gave the introduction of new castmember Jamie Johnston. Aubrey Graham, Shane Kippel, and Jake Epstein were given new footage.

The theme was completely remixed and the opening squence background has images of some of the characters' most infamous situations they've dealt with. Note: Adamo Ruggiero doesn't have any background pictures. Daniel Clark returned as a regular in season six, after leaving in season four. Andrea Lewis has been deleted from the opening credits, and is no longer in the show. Also Shenae Grimes was added to the opening credits, and Jake Goldsbie is still in the show, but not in the opening credits, Pat Mastroianni, Stacie Mistysyn, and Jake Epstein (returned in an episode of season six and probably will return in Degrassi's near future) was deleted from the credits as well. Ryan Cooley's character of JT Yorke was murdered this season and he left the show.
