[edit] Synopsis
Milla Jovovich returns as Alice, and she's running with a new pack of humans, with Claire Redfield (Ali Larter) leading a convoy (a school bus and a modified ambulance) that's cutting through the wastelands of the United States on a long trek to Alaska. Hunted by the minions of the scheming Dr. Isaacs, Alice has zombies hungry for her flesh and lab rats hungry for her blood, while Alice is hungry for Revenge. [6]
[edit] Plot Summary
Resident Evil: Extinction is set in between 3 - 5 years after the events of Apocalypse. The Umbrella Corporation has failed to control a series of T-Virus outbreaks and the world's population has been almost wiped out. With very little humanity left, a handful of survivors are travelling around the remnants of the world in heavily armored convoys that go to the least populated parts of the world.
[edit] Plot Details
The opening scene consists of Alice being thrown into a pit of dogs. This was confirmed by the writer himself Paul WS Anderson. Alice will fight her way out of the pit. Milla Jovovich was also interviewed while in the process of shooting this scene. The interveiw was on YouTube, but was soon removed.
- The story is said to be very complex, it will pick up 5 years after the events of Apocalypse. [7]
- The opening scene of "Extinction" picks up with Alice and cabdriver L.J. (Epps) riding a modified school bus across the wasteland once known as the United States after the death of Angela Ashford. Desperate for help anywhere they can get it, the duo recruit no-nonsense tough girl Claire Redfield (Ali Larter) and Ashanti's character, a fire-powered Florence Nightingale named Nurse Betty. Some scenes of the trailer hint at a romance between Carlos and Alice.

[edit] Production
Resident Evil: Extinction was officially announced by Sony Screen Gems on June 13, 2005 months after Apocalypse's release in North America. The producers also openly discussed the possibility of following this sequel with a fourth film.[8] However, a more recent press release indicates that this third film may in fact be the last.[9] This was later confirmed in the official plot synopsis as revealed by ComingSoon.
On November 7, 2005, Davis Film, Constantin Film and Screen Gems announced their distribution rights worldwide. The film's title was also later changed from Resident Evil: Afterlife to Resident Evil: Extinction with the film's director Russell Mulcahy signing on. Principal photography began in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico [10] in May, 2006 [11] (after being pushed back from November 05 > March 06 > April 06 > May 06) and entered post-production in late July 2006 [12]. The film's budget is estimated to be $45,000,000 and the special effects are covered by Tatopoulos Studios, whom also worked on the 2006 film Silent Hill.
In late June, 2006 Sony released the first 2 production stills [13].
[edit] Game Head Special
During an episode of Game Head on Spike TV, viewers were treated to a special sneak peek at the film [14]. The following details were revealed:
- The film takes place 3-5 years after Apocalypse.
- Angela Ashford will not be returning.
- Milla Jovovich's character Alice is now on her own.
- The world is overrun with the T-Virus, and infected crows will attack the convoy.

- We are also shown Dr. Isaacs's lab.
- It is unknown as to whether Alice will be good or evil.
[edit] Teaser Trailer
- On February 16, 2007 the film's teaser trailer was shown with Ghost Rider[15]. On February 17, 2007 Sony launched the film's website with the confirmation of the September 21 release date. It was also revealed that the film was rated R by the MPAA for Non stop violence, Language and Some Nudity. The trailer is now up on the official site.
- The trailer hints that at least part of the film will take place in the ruins of Las Vegas.
- The teaser for this film was similar to the teaser for Resident Evil: Apocalypse in that they both started out as a seemingly normal advertisements, RE:A's being a skin care product, and RE:E's being a promo for the Las Vegas night life.
- The teaser trailer opens with the song "I Know It's You" by The Crystal Method off their Legion of Boom album which features vocals by Milla Jovovich.
- The narration at the beginning of the trailer is spoken by Milla Jovovich[citation needed]
- The woman stepping out of the pool in the 'advertisement' in the trailer is the same woman who was in the commerical for Regenerate in RE: Apocalypse[citation needed]
