The cantons of Belgium
[edit] Judicial
A judicial canton (Dutch: gerechtelijk kanton) is a group of municipalities in which there is one Justice of the Peace that has jurisdiction over those municipalities. A judicial arrondissement consists of all judicial cantons on its territory. There are 225 judicial cantons in Belgium.
[edit] Electoral
An electoral canton (Dutch: kieskanton) is a group of municipalities in which elections are organised by one Canton Principal Office. It doesn't necessarily correspond with a judicial canton. It is the lowest, most detailled level for which election results are available.
