[edit] Plot
- "From hundreds of millions of years ago, in the age of the dinosaurs, five warriors revive in the present time!"
170,000,000 years ago, five ancient human tribes, with the protection of the Guardian Beasts, coexisted peacefully with the dinosaurs. This ended when an evil witch named Bandora started a war on the dinosaurs because of the death of her son Kai. Bandora decided that the only way Kai's death could be avenged was if she sold her soul to Great Satan, an evil, almost ice-like head creature who had immense power and who in the later series could be summoned to help Bandora. In the end, the five tribes were ruined and the dinosaurs became extinct. The Guardian Beasts sealed Bandora and her minions on the planet Nemesis before going into hibernation. In 1992, Nemesis returned to near Earth's orbit. Two Japanese astronauts exploring the planet accidentally released her and her minions from their prison. With Bandora free, her arch-enemy, the wizard Barza retreated to his underground lair 2,000 metres below the apartment building where he worked as a front. There, he revived the five warriors he had been guarding, who had been in suspended animation to be awakened when they were needed. These five were each a member of the ancient human tribes, who co-existed with the dinosaurs. With the aid of the Guardian Beasts, the Zyurangers fought Bandora and her Dora Monsters. Later in the series, after the five have become used to modern times, the leader's elder brother comes forth with tales of jealousy and vengeance.
[edit] Characters
[edit] Zyurangers
They were the five greatest warriors of the five ancient tribes. Barza called them the Holy Warriors of Justice. The first five went into suspended animation to be ready in the event Bandora escaped her prison, while Burai followed them to get his revenge on Geki. Although they are still alive, they are now in Heaven with Barza and their Guardian Beasts, hoping to return to Earth when they're needed again.
[edit] Allies
- Mysterious Hermit Barza (不思議仙人バーザ Fushigi Sennin Bāza?): Sealed away along Bandora. He was the immortal white wizard who looked after the Zyurangers during their long sleep. He worked as an apartment manager in the building above their resting place, the Sakura Mansion. Now, he is in Heaven with the Zyurangers and the Guardian Beasts.
- Gnome (ノーム Nōmu?): The King of the Elves. He was an old friend of Barza, and helped the Zyurangers by giving them Moly to defeat Dora Circe. He was also the holder of Burai's key. He hoped that Burai would simply die inside the cave so that he would not be unleashed upon the world, his grandson Ryota had other plans.
- Prince Euro (ヨーロ公 Yōro Kō?): Young prince of the Apelo tribe, who once failed to accomplish a task assigned from Daizyujin long time ago, and as a punishment, they were expelled from the Land of Gods and each sprouted a monkey's tail. Assigned the task of protecting the dinosaur Eggs, Euro receive a chance to redeem Apelo Tribe or have them and himself be completely turned into monkeys upon failure. Though Euro failed, his new-found friend Emiko & the Zyurangers pleaded in the Apelos' defense and Daizyujin took back his curse, allowing the Apelos tribe back to his domain.
- Daisy & Clockle (デイジー&クロックル Deijī to Kurokkuru?): Prince Euro's two assistants, Clockle was the footman while Daisy was the nanny.
- Ryota: Gnome's grandson. 170 million years ago, Burai saved him from a rock that threatened to crush him. In the present day, he took Gnome's key, and unsealed Burai, against his grandfather's wishes. But Ryota felt betrayed after seeing what cruel Burai had became.
- Spirit of Life Clotho (命の精霊クロト Inochi no Seirei Kuroto?): A child-like being, she is actually an enity with the power of life itself. When the Zyurangers went into suspended animation, Burai followed them in his own chamber. However, the Zyurangers had Barza to look after them while Burai had no one. This proved tragic as an earthquake caused the cave where Burai was sleeping to collapse, crushing the helpless Burai to death. Daizyujin asked Clotho to restore Burai's life because the Zyurangers would need Dragon Caesar. However, his lifeforce was limited. Soon after Burai was revived, and after he betrayed Bandora, Clotho took him to the Lapseless Room and gave him the Zyusouken. Clotho told him he had about 30 hours remaining and left him with a green candle that would represent his remaining life force. The Lapseless Room is a chamber where time stood still, and every time Burai went out to aid his brother, a portion of the candle would melt away. When Bandora destroyed the room, Goushi & Dan attempted to get the water of Life from the guardian statue, (Clotho). However, Clotho pointed out that Burai is meant to die, and the Water of Life cannot help him. After Burai's death, Clotho departed and wasn't seen since.
[edit] Ancient Tribes
The five tribes where the six Zyurangers come from. They each worshipped one of the seven avatars of the Dinosaur Gods.
- Yamato Tribe (ヤマト族 Yamato Zoku?): Geki and Burai's tribe, symbolized by the Tyrannosaurus. Also has the symbol of the Dragon, as the Dragon Armor was its treasure.
- Yamato King: Geki's adopted father, ruler of the Yamato Tribe.
- Black Knight: Geki and Burai's birth father, was a prideful man who did not respect the Yamato King. He dueled with the King to get his baby son Geki back, but was killed trying.
- Sharma Tribe (シャーマ族 Shāma Zoku?): Goushi's tribe, symbolized by the Woolly Mammoth.
- Otome: Goushi's long dead older sister, who Goushi swore vengeance for.
- Etof Tribe (エトフ族 Etofu Zoku?): Dan's tribe, symbolized by the Triceratops.
- Daim Tribe (ダイム族 Daimu Zoku?): Boi's tribe, symbolized by the Saber-Toothed Tiger.
- Lycia Tribe (リシヤ族 Reshiya Zoku?): Mei's tribe, symbolized by the Pteranodon.
- Lycia Tribe Princess Yui: Mei's ancestor, who sacrificed her life to stop the plant demon Guzzler, which Dora Guzzler was modeled after.
[edit] Others
- Jin (ジン Jin?) (11): A genie who has the power to grant wishes. Bandora stole the lamp and turned Jin into a Dora Monster, Dora Jin (ドーラジン Dōra Jin?), shattering the lamp in the process. After his lamp was restored, Jin returned to normal. He was sealed away to prevent any further use for evil.
- Fairy DonDon (妖精ドンドン Yōsei Dondon?) (14): An elf who was applying for a job as Pleprechuan’s assistant, but was kicked out by Bandora. DonDon met a kindred spirit in Toshio, a boy who also got frequently picked on. They become friends and go around sucking things into DonDon’s magic bottles — including planes and buildings with people inside. After seeing DonDon trapping Boi and Dan in his bottle, Bandora decided to recruit DonDon, promising to both him and Toshio the power to get back at all the people who push them around. It took Toshio’s mother to convince him and DonDon that there are people who care about them. After he and Toshio return everything to normal, DonDon goes on his way, but not before giving Toshio a black toy replica of Daizyujin.
- Monster Goda (モンスターゴダ Monsutā Goda?) (39): An underground monster who was powerful, but had a gentle heart. Goda rarely lays eggs, so she was extremely protective of her line to the point of attacking any potential threat. She lost it when two of her eggs were devoured by Bandora's gang, who then gave the blame to the Zyurangers. The Zyurangers tried to comply with Goda by telling her that they had nothing to do with the eggs, but Goda was too enraged and distraught to listen. After Goda ran off, Bandora toyed with Goda's emotions by saying she'll restore her eggs if she destroys the Zyurangers for her. She agreed, being filled with a hatred of humans as she enlarges. Despite their pleas, Goda was too hate-filled and had to be killed by Gouryuujin. But the last egg would hatch eventually, with a new Goda to be born.
[edit] Villains
- Great Satan (大サタン Dai Satan?) (30-31, 47-50): The ultimate evil of the Zyuranger universe, a floating blue-skinned head. He used Bandora to try to lay the Earth to waste 170 million years ago and uses her again to finish the job. He was banished by Ultimate Daizyujin back in the past. Later, Bandora summons him with the help of the Satan Tower and was defeated once by Ultimate Daizyujin. He even brought Kai back to life to cement the deal. He was finally killed by his arch-nemesis, Ultimate Daizyujin, in the finale.
- The Bandora Gang (バンドーラ一味 Bandōra Ichimi?): They are Bandora's forces and apparently Earthly in origin as part of ancient mankind. They are merciless (but hilarious) minions of darkness who were sealed away for causing evil to mankind. They are released thanks to the carelessness of two astronauts. Bandora and her minions were located at the Bandora Palace (バンドーラパレス Bandōra Paresu?), which was on the Moon. Though their intent was making Earth a wasteland, they also caused mischief for the Zyurangers until they were sealed again in the finale.
- Witch Bandora (魔女・バンドーラ Majo Bandōra?): An evil witch who was queen of the Fairy Tribe Dall, until her son Kai was inadvertently killed by a dinosaur. Torn by grief, she went mad and sold her soul to Great Satan for the power to avenge her son and slaughtered the dinosaurs. She has seemingly unlimited magical abilities, including enlarging her Dora Monsters and she serves as the arch-nemesis of the Zyurangers. Hates children as of the current day when she completely forgot about her son Kai as there is a kind of forgetfulness that comes with madness. Because of that, she simply focused on attacking innocent human children and using them as her victims and simply focused on her aims of dominating over the world. She occasionally sings her theme song, Dora! The Song of Witch Bandora which was sung after Burai first appeared. Has a bad habit of getting extremely furious when defeated in a hilarious manner and gets headaches at times, only to be comforted by her fellow warriors like Grifforzer. Does crazy things like going on a crash diet as well and sometimes fires her powers at her followers when they fail her which is quite stereotypical for sentai arch-enemies, in her case as the arch-enemy of the Zyurangers. Ironically loses her powers after shedding a tear over Kai's death, as a witch only loses her power upon crying. Powerless, Bandora was sealed away once more by Daizyujin along with all her henchmen. During the last time we see her, she is overwhelmed by the cuteness of Lamie and Grifforzer's son and cradles him around. Unlike most evil queens that usually died in Sentai, she was simply sealed off after her last defeat and has a funny side too.
- Grifforzer (グリフォーザー Guriffōzā?): A lion-faced griffin knight who wields the Grifocaliber IV sword and can fly with the help of his retractable wings. He is Lamie's husband. Grifforzer was mute until Lamie came along. Despite his being mute, he is still capable of driving command to his soldiers with his vicious personality. He is violent and a brilliant tactician with amazing strength as well, which he is a dangerous opponent nonetheless, being able to outlast and defeat Daizyujin even alone. Had a son with Lamie towards the end of the series which Bandora adores. Unlike the others, he is much less of a comedy relief like Pleprechuan and he is far more vicious than the others.
- Lamie (ラミイ Ramii?) (19-50): Human-looking agent of Bandora who entered the scene after 170 million years of waiting for the return of her husband, Grifforzer. She wields the Lamie Boomerang, a crescent-shaped blade that doubles as a sword. But when she is enlarged, she becomes the monstrous Lamie-Scorpion (ラミィスコーピオン Ramī Sukōpion?) with an electrocuting stinger on her ponytail which is still a dangerous opponent to the Zyurangers but only with Grifforzer's help. When Grifforzer had already somewhat caused Daizyujin trouble, she was also enlarged. When the Zyuranger were dealing with Dora Silkis, Lamie found a rival in Mei in the art of disguises. She gives birth to her and Grifforzer's son at the end of the series, who looks human.
- Bookback (ブックバック Bukkubakku?): A blue skinned hobgoblin who records of Bandora's evil deeds, able to assume human form. He is extremely stupid, short-witted cowardly cheat who'd do anything to win and usually provides as a comical relief alongside with Tottpatt and Bandora's irritation as well. He is armed with a pistol, though its useless in most sitations.
- Tottpatt (トットパット Tottopatto?): A wingless vampire bat monster who has never tasted blood and is a scatterbrain alchemist. Once tried to taste the blood of a little girl named Michi when the Rangers were dealing with Dora Argus, but Dan intervened. A fast-talker sort, talking faster when nervous. He is the companion of Bookback, whom he picks on for being slow, and much of a comedy relief, able to assume human form.
- Pleprechuan (プリプリカン Puripurikan?): A leprechaunish potter who forges the Dora Monsters and Golem Soldiers out of clay, focused on his craft. He rarely shows up in battle and focuses more on enemy tactics. He is extremely brilliant and somewhat all-knowing, and he is not much of a comedy relief compared to the rest.
- "Unnamed Ghost": A spirit Bandora consults with.
- Kai (カイ Kai?) (47-50): Bandora's dead son who was killed in a fight with a dinosaur, which he started. Resurrected by Great Satan for the series finale as the main pilot of Dora Talos. Would not let her mother hug him whenever she wanted to. He later dies in his mother's arms following Dora Talos' final destruction. His father is unknown but assumed to have been married to Bandora.
- Golem Soldiers (ゴーレム兵 Gōremu Hei?): Warriors made out of clay. Their hands can change into varying shapes like boulder-fists & stone-blades. Their unorthodox tactics involve amassing in large numbers, dancing around enemies before going in for the attack. They are nearly able to regenerate their bodies after being destroyed. The group were later summoned by Zaigan during Super Sentai World.
- Captain Golems: Armored versions of the Golems, usually lead the others.
- Dokiita Golems (ドキータゴーレム Dokīta Gōremu?) (29): Stronger versions of ordinary Golems, their regeneration abilities are advanced to the point that they each can split into two new Dokiita Golems from the scattered remains. Also, unlike normal Golems who have black eyes, the new Dokiita Golems have red eyes. Geki and Burai had to retrieve the Thunder Slingers to defeat them, evaporating them.
- Fake Zyuranger (偽ジュウレンジャー Nise Jūrenjā?) (46): Dora Mirage transformed five Golems into duplicates of MammothRanger, TriceraRanger, TigerRanger and PteraRanger.
[edit] Evil Arsenal
- DoraSceptor: Bandora's staff, which she can use to do many magic tricks, including making the Dora Monsters grow.
- Grifocaliber IV: Grifforzer's sword, as strong as TyrannoRanger's Ryuugekiken.
- Durandal (15): Dora Knight's sword, turned any weapon used on it into rust.
- Bandora's Altar (17, 30): Bandora only uses her altar when she has to activate more powerful magic spells.
- Sword of Hellfriede (18-22): Dangerous evil sword Burai took from a dead knight and used to duel his brother Geki. Whoever held the sword made the bearer go crazy. Burai's tears made it turn to sand in the end.
- Lamie Boomerang: Lamie's weapon boomerang-like sword.
- Dokiita-Clay (28-29): Bandora used this special clay to create super-powered Golems and Dora Franke. Golems mined for the clay in a cave on Earth and Pleprechuan made Golems that were indestructible. The Thunder Slingers were fetched by Geki and Burai to defeat the Golems.
- Satan's Tower (29-31, 48): Bandora constructs this tower to summon Great Satan from Hell. She had to gather thirteen children to be sacrificed. She called Great Satan for the first time to donate power to Zombie Franke and then again to devastate the Earth in the finale.
- Magic Spinning Wheel (34): A giant spinning wheel with spikes on the end, it put a girl named Rie to sleep, leaving Burai to watch over her infant sister Michiko. Destroyed by Ultimate Daizyujin.
- Mirror of Havoc (36): Whoever looked into this mirror would be killed instantly. The map to find it was found by a boy named Tadashi. Used on Dora Ganrock, and later it was destroyed by Daizyujin.
[edit] Evil Mecha
- Dora Talos (ドーラタロス Dōra Tarosu?) (47-50): A giant white mecha piloted by Kai, Bandora's resurrected son. It has various weapons, including its Gun Beam (Gan Bīmu?), and could use Kai's telekineses. Came when Kai gave out the command "Appear! Dora Talos!" (Araware yo Dōra Tarosu!?). Daizyujin and Gouryuujin were of no match for this new menace. After being destroyed by Ultimate Daizyujin, Bandora cast a spell that caused the ground to collapse from underneath King Brachion, causing him to sink into the ground, with the Dinosaur Eggs inside. Once Great Satan appeared on Earth, Bandora rebuilt Dora Talos with extended blades from its arms which it used to severe Daizyujin's left arm and half of Dragon Caesar's tail, leaving Bandora free to cast a spell that causes the two to disappear. The Zyurangers later learn from Burai's ghost that Daizyujin, Dragon Caesar and King Brachion were trapped in Bandora's Magic Realm. After the Zyurangers escaped after smashing globes containing their Guardian Beasts, they were back at full strength and attacked Dora Talos through several quickly-asceding stages: separate Guardian Beasts, Daizyujin, Dragon Caesar, Gouryuujin and finally Ultimate Daizyujin destroying both Great Satan and Dora Talos forever.
[edit] Dora Monsters
The Dora Monsters (ドーラモンスター Dōra Monsutā?) are made out of clay by Pleprechuan and "processed" by the Neodora Machine (ネンドーラマシン Neodōra Mashin?) oven. When defeated, Bandora would throw her staff, DoraSpector to Earth and use the ghosts from underground to regenerate the monster into a giant. The spell goes, “Sleeping evil spirits in the earth... into the body of (name of monster)... Become power... for him/her/them!”. The new Dokiita-Clay was used from episode 28 powering up the monsters.
- Dora Titan (ドーラタイタン Dōra Taitan?) (1-2): A giant knight with a sword. He takes away a shrunk space ship that has two children trapped inside. He gave the Zyurangers a run for their money until Tyrannosaurus emerged. Killed by Tyrannosaurus after Dora Skeleton was killed.
- Dora Skeleton (ドーラスケルトン Dōra Sukeruton?) (2): A skeleton with a large hat, who could reassemble his body after being blown apart. The Rangers went after him when Dora Skeleton was sent to retrieve a shuttle. His flying, disembodied skull could teleport people to a shadowy world. He was the only Dora Monster with his own grunts. Killed when TigerRanger threw his head down a lava pit causing his body to be destroyed.
- Dora Minótauros (ドーラミノタウロス Dōra Minotaurosu?) (3-4) : This Dora Monster was used in an attempt to keep the Zyurangers from gaining the Legendary Weapons, and from saving a boy named Hiroshi. Armed with a spiked club and shield, he could burrow underground. He could also shoot lightning from his horns and breathe a stream of fire. He received the full-brunt of the Howling Cannon, destroying him.
- Dora Sphinx (ドーラスフィンクス Dōra Sufinkusu?) (5-6): Posing as a game show host in a tuxedo and pharaoh's head-dress, he gives children un-answerable riddles. Once the children fail to answer correctly or run out of time, Dora Sphinx blows them off with his wings to imprisoned them in trees that are subject to be cut down very soon. In his true form, he wields a sceptre & could shoots a laser from the cobra ornament on his headdress. He was the first Dora Monster to fall at the hands of Daizyujin.
- Dora Goblin (ドーラゴブリン Dōra Goburin?) (7): A Dora Monster whose favorite food is the souls of children, who he hypnotizes with his accordion. Dora Goblin can become invisible to adult eyes unless his puts his shoes on the wrong feet, which a boy named Toru exposes. Geki managed to use that to their advantage, tricking Goblin to put his shoes on the wrong way, and the Zyurangers defeated him with the Howling Cannon. However, Goblin was revived/enlarged, using his accordion to confuse Daizyujin with illusions until knocked the accordion away, putting a stop to the gnome's music, and then killed Goblin to release the souls he ate.
- Dora Circe (ドーラキルケ Dōra Kiruke?) (8): A pig monster who lives only to eat, causing famine in the process, his only weakness is the rare herb Moly. Circe was created when Bandora was going on a crash diet and was annoyed at the enjoyment of an overweight family with a boy named Mamoru. Dora Circe immediately began to eat everything in sight, and was too fast to be seen by normal humans. When battling the Zyurangers, Dora Circe swallowed their weapons, but was driven away by Gnome's golfing attacks. Gnome revealed that he possessed Moly and gave it to Boi after he beat him in an eating contest. Through deception, the gang managed to get Circe to eat the Moly, which caused him to throw up everything he ate. Bandora was too-starved to grow her monster, so he was destroyed by the Howling Cannon.
- Dora Cockatrice (ドーラコカトリス Dōra Kokatorisu?) (9-10): A flying Dora Monster armed with a pair of scissors which he used to cut open a door in time and space to teleport during a fight, and used Prince Euro and a girl named Emiko as hostages. He was killed by Daizyujin, but was then recreated. Dora Cockatrice II (ドーラコカトリス2号 Dōra Kokatorisu 2 Gō?) was armed with a pair of hedge trimmers and was able to fire crescent-shaped energy blades from the head-crest. Once again killed by Daizyujin.
- Dora Argus (ドーラアルゴス Dōra Arugosu?) (12): A mass of eyeballs sent to torment a little girl named Michi via hallucinations of her father as a vampire. He had an array of energy beam attacks he could launch from his various eyes, and could reassemble himself if blown apart as long as his main eye is unharmed. He could also suck people inside his main eye to an illusionary world. Killed by Daizyujin.
- Dora Ladon (ドーララドゥーン Dōra Radūn?) (13): A Dora Monster whose source of power was the golden-apple on his head. Knowing that Mei could be its downfall, Bandora infected her with a poison apple, which put her to sleep. Dora Ladon used his snake-arrow to have small youth-draining apple-trees sprout from children's heads. Ladon could also open his large mouth to spit out poisonous snakes at his foes, which would wrap up and weaken their targets. He had the upper hand against the others until Mei appeared. She used her Ptera Arrow to destroy the monster's apple and thus weakened him so he could be destroyed with the Howling Cannon.
- Dora Knight (ドーラナイト Dōra Naito?) (15): An expert swordsman who used Durandal, an evil sword which Bandora had a 10-year old boy, Shigeru, make at midnight. This made Dora Knight invincible as Durandal made any other weapon it clashes with rusty. The only thing Durandal was unable to do was kill it's creator, Shigeru. Once Shigeru was in Daizyujin, Dora Knight was powerless and died.
- Dora Endos (ドーラエンドス Dōra Endosu?) (16): A pineapple/octopus monster. Posing as a clown, he could create soccer balls that contained a sneezing powder, using a boy named Isamu to do the dirty work. Once in his true form, he could spew little globs of exploding energy, and spray his sneezing powder. His only weakness was exposure to water and cold. Killed by Tyrannosaurus after ZyuMammoth immobilized Dora Endos.
- Dora Pixie (ドーラピクシー Dōra Pikushī?) (23): A unicorn-horned boy with fangs in a baseball uniform. He threw cupid-baseballs, which when anybody swallowed becomes blindly in love with anything at first sight. Mei succeed in breaking off his horn and not only cancel the spell, but also revealed Pixie's true "giant ogre" form. First to be killed by Gouryuujin.
- Dora Tortoise (ドーラトトイス Dōra Totoisu?) (24): A Dora Monster created by Tottpatt & Bookback. The monster's main attack is a traffic light sticking out of his neck. He could make people compel to move (green) or freeze them in place (Red). He also had a number of weapons hidden in his shell provided by Bukbuck which included a cannon, a baseball bat, and a metal hook. Killed by the combined teamwork of Dragon Caesar and Tyrannosaurus.
- Dora Tarantula (ドーラタランチュラ Dōra Taranchura?) (25): A Dora Monster held within a replica of a fairy statue made by a late nature lover, who left his two grandchildren, Daijiro and Michiru. The strange butterflies that surround the statue sprinkle a poison on children. Goushi realized something was wrong and exposed the monster when he realized he was right. Dora Tarantula spewed an acidic foam and thick webbing to shock his enemies. He could also shoot beams from his eyes and mandibles, and exploding stingers from his body. Killed by Gouryuujin.
- Dora Boogaranan (ドーラブーガラナン Dōra Būgaranan?) (26): A frog-like monster who could swallow people, either from a beam projected from his horn or his long tongue after losing his horn. He could also create a force field to reflect energy. Boogaranan managed to eat all of the Rangers except for Mei, who used a trap to hit the monster's weakspot, its throat, to release the others. With that, Mei killed Boogaranan with the Ptera Arrow.
- Dora Guzzler (ドーラガズラー Dōra Gazurā?) (27): A plant demon who ingests flowers, expelling them as vampiric leeches. Guzzler proved too powerful for even Gouryuujin to fight. Mei was able to defeat it by repeating the same step her ancestor, Yui, had done at the cost of her life. However, while she lay down with a legendary lily to lure the monster, Mei was armed and managed to use her arrow to mortally wound Guzzler to make it unable to suck anything it. Guzzler attempted to eat Mei, only for Pterandon to blast the monster's right arm off and it to be taken down by the Howling Cannon.
- Dora Franke (ドーラフランケ Dōra Furanke?) (28-31): The first Dora Monster made from Dokiita-clay. He displayed superior strength than previous Dora Monsters. Upon getting hit by the Ranger Slingers and impaled by Gouryuujin, the power of Dokiita-clay transformed him into Zombie Franke (ゾンビフランケ Zonbi Furanke?). He fought the Zyurangers while Bandora gathered the ingredients to summon Great Satan. On Earth, Great Satan infused Zombie Franke with some of his power, turning him into the lethal Satan Franke (サタンフランケ Satan Furanke?). He overpowered Daizyujin and Dragon Caesar, by spraying white foam that sapped their energy, causing them to go to sleep on the ground and forcing the Zyurangers to retreat. But upon unlocking the true power of the Guardian Beasts, Daizyujin and Dragon Caesar combined for the first time into Beast Emperor Daizyujin and defeated Satan Franke.
- Dora Narcissus (ドーラナルシス Dōra Narushisu?) (32): A Plant Dora Monster said to have life-giving powers. He absorbs humans through vines the protrude from behind and into his abdomen. He produces flash energy blasts from his eyes. He was used to make Geki hesitate to kill him due his hopes to keep Burai alive. Narcissus' weakness was in his own vanity, as he would stop to admire himself whenever he saw his reflection. Could also make itself grow. Daizyujin took advantage of Narcissus' vanity in order to kill him.
- Dora Reiger (ドーラレイガー Dōra Reigā?) (33): A Dora Monster who possessed a blue-jewel of great power on her crown, using it to send children to her dimensional realm where she turns them into a blue liquid that would be used to create a massive storm that would wiped out the city. Both this jewel and a red-one were sister fairy-princesses whom Bandora turn into gems. Only by the gems touching each other would the curse be lifted. Laygor was invincible until the owner of the red-jewel, Saori, slams her jewel into the blue-jewel and broke the curse. Rendered powerless, Laygor was quickly destroyed by the Ranger Slingers.
- Dora Ninja (ドーラニンジャ Dōra Ninja?) (35, 49-50): A Dora Monster sent to capture a special potion to give extended life. Armed with Ninja-like weapons including a sickle on a chain and katana sword. Killed by Daizyujin (King Brachion helped out before Daizyujin formed). He, along with Fake, Chimera and Mirage later return as ghosts in Bandora's Magic Realm when the Zyurangers went to rescue their Guardian Beasts.
- Dora Ganrock (ドーラガンロック Dōra Ganrokku?) (36): A stone Dora Monster that could shoot rocks out from his stomach to whoever they hit and weighed them down so they couldn't move. Killed by the Mirror of Havoc.
- Dora Goldhorn (ドーラ金角 Dōra Kinkaku?) (37): A samurai Dora Monster armed with a large fan that he could use to blow people away (literally it can) and a magic jar that could suck people inside. He also used a pole as a weapon, as well as a rake that is identical to the one used by Dora Goblin. Goldhorn could also use the spikes on the side of his headgear as exploding darts. Killed by Ultimate Daizyujin.
- Dora Silkis (ドーラシルキス Dōra Shirukisu?) (38): This pet of Lamie's fed on children's souls. It managed to trap the Rangers (minus Mei) in a cocoon. It would later assume its full size when Mei interfered one time too many. It was then enlarged and killed by Beast Emperor Daizyujin.
- Dora Fake (ドーラガンサク Dōra Gansaku?) (40-42, 49-50): A Cyclops Dora Monster that took on the forms of the Guardian Beasts. He could project energy beams from his eye. He first posed as Dragon Caesar to lure DragonRanger out of hiding. Though he retreated once the real Dragon Cesar appeared, Bandora succeeded in finding the location of the Lapseless Room and destroyed it. Dora Fake was later launched to attack as Gouryuujin. Burai called for Dragon Caesar, but despite defeating Dora Fake as it posed as Daizyujin, Gouryuujin again, and Tyrannosaurus, Dragon Caesar and Burai were on the verge of defeat. The other Zyurangers soon arrived and used the Ultimate Daizyujin to finally destroy it seconds before Burai's time ran out, and also saving a boy named Kota's life. He, along with Ninja, Chimera and Mirage later return as ghosts in Bandora's Magic Realm when the Zyurangers went to rescue their Guardian Beasts.
- Dora Antaeus (ドーラアンタイオス Dōra Antaiosu?) (43): A giant bird/dinosaur monster that revived into a stronger form every time it dies. This monster came along during a time when both Geki and Dragon Caesar were still suffering over the loss of Burai. Knowing this, Bandora took advantage of this and cast a spell that bound Dragon Caesar's arms to his sides. It also caused Dragon Caesar to hardly move, let alone fight and became weaker and weaker. Daizyujin had a tough time handling Dora Antaeus until Geki jumps inside and found the monster's heart and summoned the Dragon Armor, revitalizing Dragon Caesar, causing him to overcome Bandora's magic as he realized the others needed his help. So Dragon Caesar used his tail to cut a hole in Dora Antaeus, enabling Geki to escape with the monster's heart flying out. After Geki obliterated the heart, he and the others formed Ultimate Daizyujin to finally finish off Dora Antaeus for good.
- Dora Chimaera (ドーラキマイラ Dōra Kimaira?) (44, 49-50): A Dora Monster who could absorb people to use their talents as his own with the goat head on his stomach creating tornadoes to trap his victims, even their special weapons. Among those he absorbed were an pop singer, a baseball player, a soccer player, a archer, and a hockey player. Chimaera could shoot beams from the eyes of his lion head, and his goat head could create gusts of snow. Chimaera targeted a kendo woman Goushi befriended named Sayaka. But Bandora decided to have Chimaera possess Sayaka, managing to wound Goushi before Sayaka forced him out of her body. When he was challenged by the other four, Chimaera easily overpowered them, beating them soundly before enveloping them in an energy cyclone with intend of adding to his collection until Goushi arrived and assaulted Dora Chimaera with extreme prejudice, freeing everyone he consumed. Chimera was enlarged and then killed by Daizyujin. He, along with Ninja, Fake and Mirage later return as ghosts in Bandora's Magic Realm when the Zyurangers went to rescue their Guardian Beasts.
- Dora Unicorn (ドーラユニコーン Dōra Yunikōn?) (45): A winged Dora Monster who took advantage of an environmentalist boy named Kouichi, so that any attack inflicted on him is felt by Kouichi via the monster's horn. But Kouichi managed to undo the synchronization with the memories of his father as Geki succeeded in destroying the horn, putting the monster at a disadvantage. Killed by Daizyujin while riding King Tankor.
- Dora Mirage (ドーラミラージュ Dōra Mirāshu?) (46, 49-50): A mirror-covered monster who posed as TyrannoRanger and disguised four Golems as doppelgängers of the other Zyurangers in a plan to frame them. Once exposed, he fought the Zyurangers personally until he was killed by the Howling Cannon. He, along with Dora Ninja, Dora Fake, and Dora Chimera later return as ghosts in Bandora's Magic Realm when the Zyurangers went to rescue their Guardian Beasts.

[edit] Trivia
- The show's opening theme song is sung by Kenta Satou, who played Riki Honoo/Red Turbo in Kousoku Sentai Turboranger. Furthermore, the show itself borrows various Turboranger BGM at times.
- Zyuranger included two actors who were in Jetman as guest stars, Yuuta Mochizuki (J1/Geki) & Hideki Fujiwara (Dan/Dan).
- After Zyuranger ended, Yuuta Mochizuki appeared in Sailor Moon Musicals (Seramyu) for 7 and a half years. He was the second longest running cast member to have performed in the musical, and is the longest running actor to have played four different characters (Kunzite, Mamoru Chiba/Tuxedo Kamen, King Endymion and Count Dracula). He was also an action coach between 1998 and 2001.
- Despite the show's title, only two of the Zyurangers have true Dinosaurs as avatars (Tyrannosaurus, and Triceratops), or three if you count the Dragon as a Dinosaur. The Pteranodon, currently considered as a separate type of reptile (a pterosaur), was classified as a dinosaur at the time the series was produced. And despite his name, Dragon Caesar's appearance is similar to that of Godzilla with samurai-like armor.
- Beast Emperor Daizyujin was infrequently by itself, due to the size of the costume, however, its usually only being seen when it combined with King Tanker to form Ultimate Daizyujin.
- After Zyuranger, Yuuta Mochizuki played the lead role in Kamen Rider J. He is a part of a handful of Sentai actors who went on to play a Kamen Rider after appearing in at least one Sentai series. He conciliates the filming of movie with his acting in Sailor Moon Musicals.
- Machiko Soga also played Queen Hedrian in both Denshi Sentai Denjiman and Taiyou Sentai Sun Vulcan and would later appear in the Mahou Sentai Magiranger Movie and TV Series as Heavenly Arch Saint Magiel, her last Tokusatsu role before her death the following year from pancreatic cancer.
- Jun Tatara, who played Barza, died from lung dysfunction at 12:40 AM on September 30, 2006.
- Many of the villain concepts, though altered, were reused from Turboranger like Griforther from Zimba, Lamie from Jarmin (her costume seems to be a recycled one of Dordora's in Fiveman) and Bukbak from Zulten. Other altered concepts include Priprican from Anagbas in Maskman and Bandora from a much earlier sentai series Denziman, both played by the same actress.[citation needed]
- Shiro Izumi (Izumi Shirō), who played Burai, also played Yuuma Oozora/Change Pegasus in Dengeki Sentai Changeman and guest-starred in Super Sentai World, which also featured, among other teams, Zyuranger (only in costume).
- In the "base" of the logo, the kanji 獣連者 are given. They are translated as "Beast Group Members", and can be read as jūrenja. The reading is very similar to the final word of the series' name (jūrenjā), which is given in katakana.
- A video game adaptation of the series was released by Rockstar San Diego for the Nintendo Famicom game console in Japan.
- Even though the character Goushi is the oldest of the main five, the actor Aohisa Takayasu is actually two months younger than Yuuta Mochizuki.
- Unlike other Super Sentai programs, the primary antagonists were not killed off at the end of the series. They were sealed off into a jar instead. Also, the villains are primarily comic relief, as opposed to the more serious villains of past Sentai series. Bandora is seen to be an even lighter version of evil queens from past Sentai programs.
- This was the first season to feature an active sixth member with the addition of Burai.
- This is the first Super Sentai series wherein the slain warrior had no replacement opposite other Sentai series wherein the slain warriors where immediately replaced on the next episode after their deaths.
- It was also the first Sentai show that didn't enlarge certain monsters for certain episodes due to certain reasons much like Chojin Sentai Jetman.[citation needed]
- Episodes 18, 23, 24 and 37 featured Zyurangers not transformed at all in the episode (Geki 18) (Burai 23, 24 and 37).
- Golem Hei with Pumpkin heads and football jerseys were part of the Zyu2 footage.
- The costumes for Golem Soldiers was later used and redesigned as shadowy Youma for the 2003 Live Action version of Sailor Moon (first used in episode 37).
- This is the first Super Sentai series to be adapted as the first installment of the Power Rangers series.
