Gosei Sentai Dairanger (五星戦隊ダイレンジャー Gosei Sentai Dairenjā?) translated into English as Five-Star Squadron Dairanger,[1] is a Japanese tokusatsu television series. It was the seventeenth programme in the long-running Super Sentai franchise of tokusatsu programmes produced by Toei, following Kyouryuu Sentai Zyuranger. It was originally broadcast from February 11, 1993 to February 19, 1994.

Certain action footage from this series was used in the second season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, however, this mostly consisted of the scenes featuring the Dairanger mecha, which were used as Zords (in this case, Thunderzords) in Power Rangers; the hand-to-hand fight scenes were limited to Zyuranger footage and material filmed for specifically for the American show. The only footage showing any of the Dairangers in the English adaptation was limited to the KibaRanger footage being used for footage involving the White Ranger in battle.

[edit] Plot

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Over 8,000 years ago, the Daos civilization flourished in Southern China. The Daos Empire consisted in three tribes: Dai, Shura (ancestors of today's humanity) and Gorma who lived harmoniously. However, one day the Gorma Tribe tried to take over the Empire. Thus began the war between the Gorma and the Dai Tribe. The battle continued for 5,000 years, led by the Gorma Triumvirate. The Mythical Chi Beasts appeared to oppose the Gorma, whose magical powers had increased to the point where they could turn themselves into monsters. Five Dai warriors' chi powers had increased to the point where they could control the Mythical Chi Beasts. The war ends with the disappearance of both the Dai and Gorma tribes. In 1993, the Gorma Tribe, one of the Daos' two missing branches, revived to take over the world. To counter them, Master Kaku assembled a team of five youths with high levels of chi. They became the Dairangers of present time.

[edit] Characters

[edit] Dairangers

Main article: The Dairangers

They are practicers of a form of martial arts that originated from the Dai Tribe in China 8,000 years ago. They use chi powers to fight the Gorma Tribe. Only three are direct descendants of the Dai Tribe: Ryou, Lin & Kou.

[edit] Allies

  • Kameo (亀夫 Kameo?): A pudgy and strange-looking man who loved turtles and fearful of confrontations, who witnessed the Dairangers transform when they revived Won Tiger. He spoke in a Nagoya accent and with no memory of his previous life, made a living out of selling illustrations he made, and dreamed of writing children's books. And then one day he found a Lai-Lai Jweel that reveals his true nature as Daimugen, resuming his true form when his new friend Kazu was in danger. Using the crystal, Kameo could change into Daimugen at will while yelling "Super Mythical Chi Beast, Daimugen!", but at other times the crystal would cause him to turn into a small turtle.
  • Kujaku (クジャク Kujaku?, Peacock): A follower of the Mahamayuri Vidyaraja, the Peacock Buddha, and a master of kenpo. She became a follower to restore Gara by finding the Peacock's Tears, an ancient artifact said to heal whoever drinks from it. But Gara was unaware at the time as she joined the Gorma and through deception, trapped Kujaku in Mirror Make-Up Artist. Kujaku swore revenge since then. And for six-thousand years she was imprisoned within that mirror, until she was freed by Daigo. But she had forgotten compassion and love during her long imprisonment, and the sight of Gara was enough to set her homing in with nothing in her mind but murder. It took a combination of Daigo's perseverance and a little girl's compassion and kindness to give her a change of heart. But by that time she had realized something was wrong. She was ill. When within her finally woke those deadened feelings of compassion, she stopped her pursuit of Gara and decided to return to her pursuit of the Peacock's Tears. And when she learned that the reason Gara had become a Gorma, Kujaku was overcome with the compassion and love that had led her to begin her search in the first place. But all the pollutants and things in the world were killing Kujaku. Even if she took her one drink from the Peacock's Tears, she would only sicken again and die. So instead she used the artifact for Gara to restore her beauty. And when Kujaku died, she went to Heaven with the real Gara at her side. Kujaku would later reappeared in spirit to restore Daigo's spirit, and one time to plea him not to take revenge.
  • Grandmaster Yufang (老道士虞翻 Rōdōshi Guhon?): Lin's great grand-uncle and Jiaxu's mentor, who tends to be bizarre at times and often cracks his neck. Gave the Dairangers their Big Wheel Blades and constructed the Super Chi Power Bazooka for them. His fiance, Shoukyou, brought him the Byakkoshinken which he placed within a stone until the owner (Kou) could remove it.
  • Shoukyou (小喬 Shōkyō?): Yufang's fiance.
  • Kou & Akomaru's Mother: Woman of the Dai tribe who gave birth to Kou and Akomaru. Dies along with Akomaru.
  • Gara (ガラ中佐 Gara?) (41, 49): 6,000 year member of the Dai Tribe. She joined the Gorma at 10 when she protected her friend Kujaku at the cost of her face. Mortified, she came to believe Kujaku rejected her. They soon meet again in battle, though Gara tricked her and trapped her within Mirror-Makeup Artist. She died soon after, with a puppet created in her image by Shadam. Kujaku would be reunited with her friend as they ascended to heaven, return to Earth briefly to eliminate her copy.

[edit] The Gorma Tribe

The Gorma Tribe (ゴーマ族 Gōma Zoku?) is the villain group in Dairanger. 8,000 years ago they were the military of the three tribes, but decided to take the world for themselves and destroy the other two. The Gorma are humans who have master a You Power and gained the ablity to become monsters. The leader is the Gorma Emperor with many other devisions under him. However it was revealed that most of the higher sristocracy had been killed ages before dairanger even began. It was thought that Shaddam had secretly made clay versions of them all in a bid to be emperor himself. However as he himself turned out to be clay, it is at debate the fate of the real Shadam and who created the clay-copy. An interesting detail is that while the forces the Gorma use give them great power, it also seems to have damaging effect on their mental facilities, as the most powerful Gorma are almost completely insane as seen with the Gorma Emperor and those before him due to the Earth Shaking Jewel.

  • Gorma XV (ゴーマ十五世 Gōma Jūgōsei?) (20-49): The 15th Emperor of Gorma who mysteriously resurfaced to reopen the Gorma Palace with intent to restore his crumbling empire to its former glory in episode 20. He is an extremely powerful entity, though a bit insane. The insanity was inherent aspect of all Gorma's past 14 emperors due to power of Earth Shaking Jewel which supplies the Emperor's power with an unlimited supply of the "evil energy" for him to live, though only few actually know the truth. The Emperor was more of a sadistic, heartless creature with a "playful" outlook on things. However, the Emperor got more serious when saw Shadam's intent to overthrow him. He was hoping for Shadam to fall to their enemies for him to rule the world forever. But when Shadam demanded the Earth Shaking Jewel, the Emperor refuses and attempts to use to kill Shadam himself. However, The Emperor's own conceit was a flaw as Shadam revealed he recreated the Emperor from clay, only letting him live until Shadam became Emperor himself and Gorma's official leader. With that revelation, Shadam managed to steal the Earth Shaking Jewel while the former Emperor is reduced to clay dust.
  • The Gorma Triumvirate: The three who spear head the attack. While they resemble humans in leather clothing, their skin turns metallic when in fighting-form.
    • Lt. Colonel Shadam (シャダム中佐 Shadamu Chūsa?): The leader of the Gorma Triumvirate and Kou's and Akomaru's real father. He was the one who spear-headed the Gorma attack against the Dai Tribe in China. Shadam's life was one of frustrated dreams. Power was his only comfort. Rising higher in rank his only goal. He wanted to become the 16th Gorma Emperor, deposing of the competition in anyway possible. He can also assume a fighting form, with a mask that practically covers his face. He eventually realized his dream and the power of the Gorma Emperor once he defeated Jiaxu and disposed the previous one he resurrected and allowed to live until his goal was achieved. As Gorma Emperor XVI (Gōma-tei Jū-Roku?), he intended to use the Great Earthshaking Jewel to takeover the world despite suffering its mind-warping effects, but he had the Dairangers to deal with. But when Daijinryuu appears, the Earth Shaking Jewel left Shadam in order to appease Daijinryu's wrath. A maddened Shadam attempted to escape, only to be encountered by Ryou in a one-way knife duel between them. Shadam lost and died on his own knife, revealing that he was actually a clay figure himself made long ago. As his body crumbled to dust, only an human eye ball remained among the pile of dirt.
    • Lt. Colonel Gara (ガラ中佐 Gara Chūsa?) (1-49): The female member of the Gorma Triumvirate, she was actually a copy of the original Gara, created by Shadam as he remembered her. Makes a copy of her self called Wraith Gara for a short time. During the final battle, Gara learned the truth of her 'existence' as the "Real Gara" used her power to reduce Gara into dust.
    • Major Zydos (ザイドス少佐 Zaidosu Shōsa?) (1-48): The Strongman, brutal and prone to deep thinking. He was a key player amongst the Gorma because of his power and he could create extremely dangerous new Gorma like Jin. He believed utterly in Shadam as his leader, but was also prone to doing his own things. He has trouble controlling the 3 Gorma Idiots as they tend to botch the plans due to their competitive nature. Nearly killed by Heavy Armor Chi Palace, but survived. During the match between Shadam and Jiaxu, Zydos was sent to destroy the power booster Jiaxu intended to use in the match. Though he barely survived the Heavy Armor Chi Palace a second time, Zydos died when he turned into his true form: A clay figure created by Shadam as he remembered him.
  • General Tenpou ( Tenpō Shōgun?) (17-48): A Gorma who is 2nd in command to the Emperor and Akomaru's teacher/guardian. He was killed by Shadam when Tenpou saw what he was doing to a resting Gorma XV and noticed the clay hand that exposes the Emperor as a clay copy.
  • Akomaru (阿古丸 Akomaru?) (17-22, 31-44): A Gorma child who is the son of Shadam, though the two despise each other fiercely. In fact, Akomaru is ranked higher than his father. He wants to replace his father as the Gorma military leader. He first appears to take the power of the KibaRanger, knowing Kou has it and aware of their relation and wanted Kou to fight by his side as brothers. Unfortunately, Akomaru saw that Kou seemed unable to hate and it annoyed him. Akomaru was killed when he was crushed by a boulder, with Kou at his side. Later the Gorma Emperor brought Akomaru back from Hell prior to his tenth birthday, when he and Kou came into their adult power as Gorma. Akomaru was made to believe that his mother abandoned him to a father who does not care about him. Akomaru gave the Dairangers quite a battle when he rode atop his bodyguard Ikazuchii. After Ikazuchii died, Akomaru learned the truth that mother abandoned him because of a taboo that one twin must be killed so the other can have the power of both. So their mother decided to save them, with Akomaru to live as a Gorma and Kou as a normal human. But Akomaru was soon mortally injured by Shadam, limping into the cave collapsing on itself and dying in the embrace of his dying mother with the knowledge that he was loved.
  • Demon Boxer Jin (魔拳士ジン Makenshi Jin?) (26-39, 47): A master of Kempo and all manner of martial arts, Jin Matoba (的場陣 Matoba Jin?) was a gentleman assassin. His favorite targets were martial arts masters, as his own master cut off his right arm. Jin got a prosthesis, perfected his arts, went on a campaign to slaughter in fair challenge other masters who considered themselves fit to destroy promising students and fully intended, when he was ready, to return and kill his first teacher. Jin's trademark was to flip a coin into the air and kill his opponent before it landed. But the man foiled that plan by dying before Jin got around to it. But that all changed the day he meet Ryou and was defeated by him. Jin soon later sold his soul to Zydos to become stronger than Ryou, becoming the Demon Boxer. But Jin perfected to learn his new powers on his own, after which he went hunting for Ryou. His power had many facets, and one of them was the deadly "Dance of the Spider" poisoning technique. But Zydos captured the rogue and infused him with more Gorma power, turning him into Garouki (餓狼鬼 Garōki?, Hungry-Wolf Demon). Unlike the normally born Gorma, Jin's transformation was against his will and thus he is unable to control himself as Garouki. As Garouki, Jin is like a totally obedient dog for Zydos with a desire to kill and eat his victims. Jin was soon freed of his "Gorma-incarnation" thanks to Ryo's attack separating the monster from his body. While Jin fought Zydos, Garouki was destroyed by the Kiryouku Bazooka, he was mortally wounded. After one final bout with Ryou, Jin went on the run from the Gorma. Jin was last seen fighting the bulk of an entire army of Cotpotros led by Zydos, only to be seemingly gunned down by the 2nd wave. But Jin later appeared to Ryo and proceeded beat sense into him on not giving up dispite no longer being a Dairanger.
  • Chief Officer Jiaxu (嘉挧参謀長 Kaku Sanbōchō?) (1-48, 50): Originally a member of Gorma, he formed the Dairangers to oppose Gorma in the present day under the human alias of Master Kaku (道士嘉挧 Dōshi Kaku?). But when Daijinryuu appeared, he returned to Gorma in his metallic red cyclops-like armor. Jiaxu hoped he could stop the fight as the 16th Gorma Emperor and overthrow Shadam to end the war, using the Tower of You Power and the Tower of Chi Power as boost. But once Gara & Zydos destroyed them, Jiaxu lost against Shadam, mortally wounded and died in the arms of the Dairangers. He later appeared in spirit to the Dairangers, telling them Gorma must be thwarted rather than be destroyed.
  • Copy Dairanger (コピーダイレンジャー Kopī Dairenjā?) (25): Evil duplicates of the Dairangers made by Copy Empress. First copy unleashed was of KirinRanger, and later two Ryuus, Shishis, Tenma's and HououRangers followed for the real Ryuu, Shishi, Tenma and HououRangers to deal with. The copy of KirinRanger was killed by Kaku, but Copy Empress later made copies of each; Ryuu, Shishi, Tenma, Kirin, and HououRanger for the real KirinRanger to deal with. After KirinRanger used his Dairenrod attack on Copy Empress, all of the copies of Dairanger were killed as well.
  • Copy Mythical Chi Warrior Ryuuseioh (コピー気伝武人龍星王 Kopī Kiden Bujin Ryūseiō?) (25): Evil duplicate of Ryuuseioh made by Copy Empress for Dairen'oh to deal with. Destroyed along with Copy Empress by Dairen'oh.
  • Cotpotros (コットポトロ Kottopotoro?): Gorma grunts in black tuxedo tights with lipped but otherwise blank black and white faces. The group were later summoned by Zaigan during Super Sentai World.

[edit] Gorma Minions

The Gorma Minions (ゴーマ怪人 Gōma Kaijin?) are the warriors of the Gorma Tribe, having both human and monstrous forms. There are cases in which the monster overranks even Shadam himself, like the High Priest. Each Gorma is a master of a Shinken style that is associated with his/her form. They are enlarged with Gorma's Enlargement Bombs (巨大化爆弾 Kyodaika Bakudan?).

  • Great King Ojaru (オジャル大王 Ojaru Daiō?) (Movie): Combination of Baron String, Purse Priest, Key Jester, Lipstick Songstress and Duke of Trumps to counter Dairenoh's formation. Killed by Dairen'oh.
    • Baron String (紐男爵 Himo Danshaku?) (1-2, Movie, 50): The first Gorma, took on the form of a boy who loved singing while playing with his yo-yo. He ingested people through the mouths at the end of his tentacles. The Master of the Himoshinken (Fist of the String) fighting style, though he is a bit rusty as he hadn't used it for years, he was the first to be killed by Ryuuseioh. He was brought back in the movie by Duke of Trumps to battle the Dairangers and was absorbed by Duke of Trumps to become the Great King Ojaru. In the epilogue of the series finale (50 years after the final battle), a new generation of Gorma emerged, including a new version of Baron String, who was simply called New Gorma Monster. The new Baron Sting was killed by Dairen'oh piloted by the next generation Dairangers.
    • Purse Priest (ガマグチ法師 Gamaguchi Hōshi?) (2, Movie): A Gorma in the service of Zydos. He liked basketball and takes on the form of a tall athlete. He serviced as executioner for Gorma sacrifices. His attacks were characterized by sending flying at his target seemingly hundreds of gourds carved with smiling, human faces. Once these things secured someone's head, basically the body was under total control. Killed by the Dairangers before he had a chance to grow giant. He was brought back by Duke of Trumps in the movie to battle the Dairangers and then was absorbed by Duke of Trumps to become the Great King Ojaru.
    • Key Jester (鍵道化師 Kagi Dōkeshi?) (3-4, Movie): An oddball hard to catch Gorma. He spent most of his time rolling about on rollerblades, choosing children and stealing their souls to give life to his bloodthirsty dolls. Killed by the Dairangers. He was brought back by Duke of Trumps to fight the Dairangers and then absorbed by him to become Great King Ojaru.
    • Lipstick Songstress (口紅歌姫 Kuchibeni Utahime?) (5-6, Movie): A Gorma in the service of Gara, the Lipstick Songtress is extremely vain. A master of the Kunchibenishinken (Fist of the Lipstick) fighting style, she uses song-based attacks. When her face was scarred from a fight with Lin, she vowed vengeance. A swipe of her lipstick across a woman's lips turned the victim into a controlled slave, singing a dangerous soprano tone that tended to blow out our heroes' eardrums. Killed by Ryuuseioh and the Heavenly Chi Palace. She was brought back in the Dairanger movies by Duke of Trumps to battle the Dairangers, her human form being a harem girl with big lips, and then was absorbed by him to become Great King Ojaru.
    • Duke of Trumps (トランプ公爵 Toranpu Kōshaku?) (Movie): He turned children into playing pieces in a card game, and was able to use special trumps of Baron String, Purse Priest, Key Jester, and Rouge Song Princess to bring them back and fight the Dairangers. He then absorbed them to become Great King Ojaru, only to be killed by Dairen'oh.
  • Iron Face Zhang Liao (鉄面臂張遼 Tetsumenpi Chōryō?) (7-8): The previous RyuuRanger who joined the Gorma, becoming an immortal. Twenty years prior to the series, he fell in love with a human who gave birth to his son Ryou. After Yuko was born, Liao was summoned back by his master, Archbishop Riji. He was sent to fight the Dairangers after the Triumvirate failed to do so, only to stop upon hearing his son is the new Ryu Ranger. Zhang Liao eventually saw the error of his ways and turned on his master. Receiving a fatal blow for his troubles, he collapsed and was dying. Ryou held him close, and then they appeared, the four spirits of the other original Dairangers. They had come for him, to tell him they forgave him. He passed on the ancient knowledge of Dairen'oh to the new Dairangers before he died. He is named after a military general of China in the years 169 to 222.
  • Archbishop Riju (大僧正リジュ Daizōjō Riju?) / Archbishop Saw (ノコギリ大僧正 Nokogiri Daizōjō?) (7-8): An insane Gorma of higher rank than the Gorma Triumvirate, and Zhang Liao's master. After his pupil fell to kill the Dairangers. Riju took matters to his own hands. He would have succeeded had Zhang Liao not attacked him when he was attacking Ryou. First to be killed by Dairen'oh.
  • Master Mirror (鏡化粧師 Kagami Keshōshi?) (9): A Gorma in the service of Gara, Master of the Kagamishinken (Fist of the Mirror) fighting style. He prefers women who admire themselves in his Mirror-form, getting sick when he ingests a man by mistake. He had Kujaku trapped within him for six-thousand years. She managed to escape when his mirrored torso was broken. Killed by Dairen'oh.
  • Baron Sakura (サクラ子爵 Sakura Shishaku?) (10): A Gorma in the service of Gara, whose cherrytree blossoms are violent-inducing. He seemed to enjoy the catfight between his mistress and Kujaku. Killed by Dairen'oh.
  • Father Magnet (磁石神父 Jishoku Shinpu?) (11): A Gorma who poses as a man of the clothe, and his power was to set up a magnetic field by whomever he touched. The Dairangers were able to turn his own power against him. Killed by Dairen'oh.
  • Tofu Hermit (豆腐仙人 Tōfu Sennin?) (12): A semi-harmless Gorma. Except, of course, that he sends out Cotpotros out as tofu vendors who sell tofu laced with strong sake intoxicating many civilians. He, like Kazu, is a master of drunken fist fighting technique. He led revelers through the streets and ruined businessmen. He and Kazu engaged in a drinking contest, which he would have won but for Kazu's friends making sure the clear drink was just water and not sake. Killed by Dairen'oh.
  • Kabuki Novice (歌舞伎小僧 Kabuki Kozō?) (13-14): A Gorma so obsessed with Kabuki, he had incorporated it into his character. He could possess people to gain full-control over any special talents they had, like boxing and kendo, which presented the Dairangers with difficulty when they had to face him without killing the person he possessed. He was pursued by Yufang for abducting his fiance, Shoukyou, to lend his Kabuki talent greater authenticity when playing feminine roles. He was wounded by the Dairenkens and killed by Dairen'oh.
  • Three Gorma Idiots (3ばかゴーマ San Baka Gorma?) (15/Soccer, 24/Baseball, 40/Motorcycle Race, 47): Gorma in the service of Zydos, though their foolishness deemed them at lowers ranks; they all have a sense of competition and honor. Furthermore, to make them less respectable, none of them can assume human form like their fellow Gorma. They were beaten by Ryuuseioh the first time and Kibadaioh the second time. Though they survived both fights, the trio ended up being bandaged up. Over the course of the series, they would gain respect for the Dairangers (and vice versa); specifically for Shouji, who was seen as the most competitive of the rangers. After all that happened to them, they managed to survive the entire series after being blown up various times. Overall, they might as well be classified as ally kaijin because deep down they did not want to kill the Dairanger, just defeat them in contests and sports. They would finally settle things with the Dairangers in a bike race, though they made their peace with the Dairangers using the minefield Zydos placed on the finishline to fake their deaths. The trio later returned to help Shoji.
    • Company President Gravestone (墓石社長 Hakaishi Shachō?): The tombstone-themed/right hand man of the group, could open his head to reveal a variety of things.
    • Teacher Telephone (電話先生 Denwa Sensei?): Kamikaze's telephone-themed "girl", able to control any phone to spy on people or attack from long distances.
    • Boss Kamikaze (神風大将 Kamikaze Taishō?): The motorcycle-themed leader of the group who rides a motorcycle. He tends to use "baby" in his sentences.
  • Defense Teacher Haniwa Ventriloquist (ハニワ腹話術師 Haniwa Fukuwajutsushi?) (16): One of the hardest Gorma to kill, as the "ones" the Dairangers killed were actually puppets controlled by the real Haniwa Ventriloquist, who was finally killed by Dairen'oh.
  • Akomaru's Three Ladies ( Sankanjo no Akomaru?) (17-22): Three sisters who served as Akomaru's bodyguards/nannies. All were killed.
    • Lady Earring (イヤリング官女 Iyaringu Kanjo?) (17-18): She can shoot her hair to grab opponents in a constrictor hold. Mortally wounded by KibaRanger after she found out his true identity, she died from massive bloodloss before she could tell Akomaru.
    • Lady Necklace (ネックレス官女 Nekkuresu Kanjo?) (17-20): Able to extend her neck to great lengths & possesses telescopic vision in her 3rd eye. Killed by the Dairen'oh.
    • Lady Ring (指輪官女 Yubiwa Kanjo?) (17-22): She was able to create energy rings to lasso her opponents. After her two sisters died, Lady Ring vowed to avenge them. Using their possessions, Lady Ring could create "phantom" versions of her sisters to fight with her. First to be killed by Kibadaioh.
  • The Gorma Four Deva Kings (ゴーマ四天王 Gōma Shitennō?) (20, 28-31): They are the most favored of the Gorma Emperor's minions, wearing the attire of Buddhist Priests and being masters of displacement. They attempted to use their illusions to trap the Dairangers with key figures individually. Their teamwork skills were their greatest power, as they could merge into one deadly four-headed entity called Combined Four Deva Kings (合体四天王 Gattai Shitennō?). They survived the attack of Kibadaioh twice, but were soon the first to be killed by Heavy Armor Chi Place.
    • Touhouten (東方天 Tōhōten?, East Heaven)
    • Hoppouten (北方天 Hoppōten?, North Heaven)
    • Saihouten (西方天 Saihōten?, West Heaven)
    • Nanpouten (南方天 Nanpōten?, South Heaven)
  • Heatwave Hood (陽炎頭巾 Kagerō Zukin?) (23): A Gorma who devoured Kujaku and Daigo, using them as hostages. Trapped and being baked alive within him, instead of giving up, Daigo decided to literally punch his way out. Killed by Dairen'oh.
  • Copy Empress (コピー女帝 Kopī Jotei?) (25): A Gorma who posed as publicist, successfully taking a photo of each Dairanger. She then brought the copies to life, using them to fight the originals so they can be real. Killed by Dairen'oh.
  • Pot Taoist (壷道人 Tsubo Dōjin?) (26-27): The first of the stronger Gorma. Killed by Dairen'oh.
  • Fast-Talking Player (早口旅ガラス Hayakuchi Tabigarasu?) (29-30): A champion talker, he uses bombs that detonate if you failed to say a tongue-twister. He was gathering children with his fishing rod to slave for the Gorma, to open a crack in the gates of hell, so that the Gorma Triumvirate could drink in that power emitted from it. It was during his part in the plan that he exposed Kou as the KibaRanger. Though killed by the Kiryouku Bazooka, his fishing rod remained and was used by the Gorma Emperor to retrieve Akomaru from Hell.
  • Bird Cage Vagabond (鳥カゴ風来坊 Torikago Fūraibō?) (32): A Gorma with a golden-left leg that made him nearly invincible. Birdcage Vagabond's golden leg was stolen by Jiaxu 6000 years ago, making Birdcage useless to the Gorma. Until recently, Birdcage traveled the world, learning Spanish words that he frequently in his sentences and drank often in his "human" form. He had his eagle familiar capture Shouji and a little girl to bargain the return of his leg. But Zydos managed to get the leg for Birdcage, who got killed in the end by Dairen'oh anyway.
  • Media Magician (メディア魔術師 Media Majutsushi?) (33): A Gorma in the service of Gara, he posed as a photographer named Shouichirou Takamura (高村翔一郎 Takamura Shōichirō?). He was supposed to steal Lin's soul while she was vainly letting him take millions of photographs of her. But when he found out she did so really because she loved him, he went on a pinwheel of shock, for he fell in love with her. He saved her from himself, and then was mortally injured protecting her from Gara. He was born a Gorma, he said. And dying said to Lin he wished to be reborn as a human, so he could see her smiling face once again. Gara used his lifeless body as a giant puppet, which was destroyed by Dairen'oh.
  • General Cactus (サボテン将軍 Saboten Shōgun?) (34): A pedophillic Gorma in the service of Gara, though him shows he no respect to her. He has a thing for little girls, kidnapping them and paralyzes them so he could play with them like dolls. Some years ago he had given a cactus a soul, and somehow it had ended up in Daigo's care. The spirit called herself Michiru, and she acted to save Daigo's life from her creator in vain. Killed by Kibadaioh.
  • Sergeant Cannon (大筒軍曹 Ōzutsu Gunsō?) (35): A Gorma in the service of Zydos, who claimed that his cannonballs could instantly kill whomever they struck. Sergeant Cannon was not terribly bright with a shoot-first-ask-questions-later persona. But he served to capture Jin. Killed by Kibadaioh.
  • Count Kaleidoscope (万華鏡伯爵 Mangekyō Hakushaku?) (36): A Gorma in the service of Gara, who sent him to prevent Kujaku from finding the Peacock's Tears. He could create solid illusions to set as traps, at one point making her think she had found the tears, but Daigo was in time to keep her from being killed by the poison within. He fired an intensified light-beam. But he was killed by Dairen'oh.
  • Great Famous Pachinko Player (パチンコ大名人 Pachinko Daimeijin?) (37-38): A Gorma with a playful and mischievous personality who was obsessed with Pachinko. He was also part of Shaddam's plan to turn Kou into a Gorma. Pachinko Player was crushed to death under Daijinryuu's foot.
  • Wraith Gara (生き霊ガラ Ikiryō Gara?) (41): Copy of Gara. Dies after Gara's wounds are healed by the Peacock's Tears.
  • Ikazuchi (イカヅチ Ikazuchi?, Thunder) (42-44): Akomaru's insectoid bodyguard, this monster fought the KibaRanger-less Dairangers. He obtained his name from the fact that he can fire lightning from parts of his body, powerful enough to attract Daijinryuu and the Gorma-infested KibaRanger's attention. He was winning until KibaRanger was purified and rejoined the team, thus killing Ikazuchi with Heavy Armor Chi Palace.
  • First Lieutenant Zilong (子竜中尉 Jiryū Chūi?) (45-46): A member of the Marching Men, one of the leaders of the Imperial Guard. Jiaxu's supporter amongst the Gorma. He had Hercules-like strength and from his eye beams the power of the monster-strength of the Gorma, to toss the Dairangers hither and yon. He dies fighting Dairen'oh to Jiaxu's horror.
